Keep an eye on the poor little Tunze pump. It can't handle the back pressure from the kalk reactor for very long. It took only two months for mine to fail.

I still use my Tunze but for top off only, at night a peristaltic pump kicks in and feeds my Geo unit.

I just got a gently used GEO kalkwasser reactor to go with my dual chamber calcium reactor - problem is I didn't get any printed instructions. Can anyone share set-up tips for the kalkwasser reactor with me? Thanks!

Kelly:

Here you go:
-fill with water
-add kalkwasser
-put pump on timer to come on 3-4 times per day for approximately 10 min. each time.
-enjoy a product that actually works as it should

sounds easy enough...a few questions though:
which is the "line in" and which is the output? what is the blue valve for above the pump?

Here is my new Geo dual needle wheel skimmer

Kelly: the line closest to the top is the output, the valve is simply for dialing down the output to a few drops per second.

The line in is the one with a little tubing that goes all the way to the bottom. The out is the other one that does no have it. Both at the top. The little valve on the bottom is to drain the reactor to the half point before lifting the entire thing full of water.

Mark what are the specs on that machine?

Hey tacocat

This skimmer is 8" diameter 36" tall with two 70 watt needle wheel pumps. I feed it with a Mag 7 pump. It works awesome.

Mark, Nice Skimmer:D I think George showed me a picture of one like that a while back. We thought about using the Ehiem pump like H&S uses on my new Geo but the setup cost of those pump will probably double the cost of the skimmer. I think George is testing out the Ocean Runner pump for me, or at least getting ready too.

some one please, do you need a PH CONTROLLER with the GEO calcium reactors or just the PH MONITOR for the efluent ?????????

No need for the controller at all. The pH probe is to just monitor the effluent pH for purposes of dialing in the reactor. Once it is set, no need to touch it.

perfect, just as I did with the korallin, I had it for one year but to much tuning up, then I am changing from korallin to geo I want to try them, we will see how it is going to work

Markk, is geo using the gen-x needle wheel pumps or are those sedra pumps?
