Which one? Euro-Reefs aren't bad skimmers. I think they are overpriced for what you are getting, but not bad.

That depends on what media you are using. I'm using Aqua Medic hydro-carbonate and I run my ph at 6.4 to 6.5 to dissolve it.

Hey everybody, what's the pH of the effluent (or inside) in your Ca reactor?

I use CaribSea Geo-Marine in my reverse flow reactor. I run the effluent between 7-7.1

BTW, ER's are way over priced and not all that great of a skimmer. I bought my CS6-3 for 350.00 about 5 years ago ( I guess the high cost of oil is the reason for the HUGE price increase) Plus their customer service is second to ALL.

Which model do you have?

bad pic temp set-up. Geo 830 & Geo Kalk reactor. How come my Geo 830 looks so skinny? I thought you gain weight when pic is taken?

I just ordered a 6X18 unit for my 120. Is there a rule of thumb for bubble rate/drips per minute on a loaded SPS tank with clams?

There is no rule of thumb you just have to keep checking with a Ca test. I'd start out at between 20 and 30 drips per minute, and whatever bubble rate keeps your pH at 6.5 in the reactor at that drip rate.

ridetheducati,

Thanks! The reactor should arrive tomorrow. I am reaally looking forward to breaking down my POS Korallin and setting the GEO up.

Question

I just received my 6X18 reactor and I have a quick question. The black tube that connects between the bubble counter and the solenoid has a tiny plug inside of it on the end where it screws down into the bubble counter. Am I supposed to leave that plug in or remove it. I was wondering how the co2 would enter the reactor with this plug present.

Also, have you guys/gals installed a brass check valve between the solenoid and the reactor that George recommends?

Thanks in advance for any help

All I can say is THANKS :) to all those on this thread who supported GEO products. It was a really tough decision for me but after being set up for just shy of a week and using the method suggested to me on this thread, my calcium and alk levels have been rock solid. I'm using a Milwaukee controller with the unit and this has truly been a set it and forget it operation.
