Mine took about a day to get to this point as well. I'm using the gate to adjust the water height to skim wet/dry.

Honestly it's been pretty straight forward. I had to play with my AquaC for weeks before I could get it to run correctly, and then it would be all wrong the next day. Right now I'm just adjusting plus or minus with the ball valve to get the foam head to fall over the edge of the cup. I wanted to play with this for a few days, then turn off the pumps, set the water to the bottom of the union, and fire it up to see how it does.

I have a pretty light bioload (2 small clown, 2 small goby) so I'm not getting a ton of junk, but it's very apparent it's a lot more than my AquaC was. I got this not only because I could easily place it outside of the sump, but more importantly I see a 150-300 gallon in my future. This is 10x the skimmer I need for this tank, but I will be able to run both tanks off of the same sump and not have to buy another skimmer.

RokleM I replaced a AquaC for the exact same reason you mentioned. I also got this skimmer oversized becasue I see a 180g somewhere down the road for me.

Larger bubbles come through the middle and pop. I'm sure that was one on it's way up.

Got home from work tonight and there is a nice 1/2" dard tea colored water in the collection , there was about 1/8" of water in there when I left for work this morning, so I am very very happy with my skimmer.

I have the Geo Nielson reactor ordered and wanted to know what everyone is using for feedline from the dosing pump? Want to get everything ready for when it gets here.

What kind of screening do you guys use on the bottom (and maybe top?) of the media in your calcium reactors? My GEO has a sheet of plastic gutter-guard like material to be used on the bottom. Is that all I need down there? I'll be using ARM media FWIW...

Did you guys...

a) Use another check valve along with the cheap plastic one provided?
b) Just use the cheap plastic one?
or
c) Remove the cheap plastic one and use a better one?

I had my c02 tank go empty and that caused salt water to get into my regulator. So now I added a brass check valve.

If you haven't gotten an answer yet. I use an aqualifter as a feed for the Nielson reactor.
