Hi all,
I am a PhD student researching signaling in mantis shrimp. As I'm sure you're all aware, mantis shrimp have spectacular vision (up to 16 color pigments with the ability to detect UV, visible, infrared and polarized light). What they can see has received substantial attention, however what they are using this amazing vision for has received very little attention. I will fill this knowledge gap with my research into visual signaling and communication in mantis shrimp.
As mantis shrimp enthusiasts, I would love to have you involved with my research. I am currently using Microryza to raise money so that I can get my research underway. Anyone who donates will receive regular updates, including photos and videos of the research as it happens.
Please check out my page here: https://www.microryza.com/projects/a-colorful-world-signaling-in-mantis-shrimp
If you're interested in some of the fieldwork I've already done, check out my blog http://neptunesnecklace.wordpress.com/
Thanks for your time! And I'm happy to answer any questions.
Cheers,
Amanda
