Ghetto Rig

I've been following this thread from the beginning and i used to be embarassed to post pics of any of my set-up's but hey what the hell ill be snapping away shortly.
 
Ok, its not the best but it is Ghetto. I wanted to see hoe the lights would look 3 or 4" higher. *These are the same blocks of wood I use under my work bench when I convert it into a table for large dinners, handy to have! Sorry, they only stayed on a few hours.

I can see how bumping one of these would be a major disaster!:lol2:

from left to right. Whte PVC--homemade denitrator coil. output of denitrator dripping in front of skimmer. Output of skimmer passing through hole in sump. Sump raised on 2X4's to get level of rubbermaid tub better. Not pictured, output of skimmer goes to gallon milk jug.

attachments.

stand extender to go from 55 to 70.
HOB intake holding tube for denitrator intake

screws holding light onto canopy.
canopy is cut down 2x4s (hand held circular saw cut) cut to fit other setup.
light is held up by old glass that doesnt fit this tank

phurst, test it on one, I had the concave crystalline leds.

edit: almost forgot--the ghetto sand, rock and CUC are from the beach.

I dont think anybody wants to buy a skimmer so, I took a window air conditioner and removed the case, secured the fan, and now im just hoping its gonna be okay. may burn down my house who knows. lol

That will not work for so many reasons.

1st is that you have to have air moving through the evaporator and condensor coils for the unit to cool correctly, by removing the shroud you lost that.

2nd is that you are just adding the heat back into your stand,thus defeating the whole purpose.


The approach I would take if you want it to work and still be ghetto would be to replace the evaporator coil with titanium tubing and use it as a drop in chiller, but you still have to vent the condensor out of the stand.

Nice try though.
