Ghetto Rig

All right folks, we all see the really nicely done DIY projects on here, but I want to see everyones "ghetto rigs", because after all, we have all made one or two. So post em up.

i dont have any pics but i have a pvc skimmer that i had to shorten to fit in my stand... i figured sine it was "6 inch" pvc that a coupling would make the modification quick and painless... i quickly found out after i sectioned about 2.5 inches out of the body that the coupling wasnt the right size :( so i lined up the two pieces as well as i could to minimize gaps and slabbed a bunch of pvc glue on the seam... it sealed the seam and held it together but it is UGLY!!!

then there's my old tunze nano stream that i modded and got rid of... MJ mod shroud and i ran the cord through some 1/2" pvc which doubled as a mount... it served it's purpose and moved a ton of water but too ugly for me

I applaud you all for your cost-saving ingenuity. I don't have any "ghetto" builds because I don't think I'm capable, at least I can't think of any right now. My brain won't allow me to do something cool like this without over-engineering it to death and several hundred dollars/hours later...

My wife has instructed me to subscribe to this thread. :)

I do have to admit...I was almost ready to build the salt bucket skimmer that Stu was showing off.
Where's the plans to it? I'm gonna build one!

Eheim autofeeder... great feeder for pellet... how do you mount it to a reef tank

Step 1 - look in recycle bin for an old bottle
Step 2 - look in bucket of spare parts for old pvc parts and left over egg crate
Step 3 - grab some zip ties
Step 4 - drop your eheim autofeeder into the freakin tank
Step 5 - "sorry kids... don't repeat what daddy just said"
Step 6 - dry out autofeeder
Step 7 - ghettofy a HOB autofeeder shelf

(steps 4-6 are optional, and only recommended for clumsy knuckleheads)

Hey Stu, that is the baddest skimmer in the land. This is great stuff. I like seeing this kind of stuff way more than professionaly instaled 5,000g systems.
