...I do not have any pictures....

You dont even have pictures of your ghetto rig, I think that defines the thread Ghetto Rig...

Here is mine. It doesn't come close to the others posted here but its a start. Thanks to every one for the Inspiration.

I went and got a blue light and a black light. I didn't get much out of the black light and could not get a picture to turn out but the blue really worked.

I don't think my poor anthelia liked it though. after 2 -3 day/night of use it shrivelled up.

I replaced my glass top with egg crate and boy did I get a lot more light into the tank.

Oh, and wooden blocks to lift the light up off the egg crate.

:D

The thing is, Bob, it's not that I'm lazy, it's that I just don't care.
Bob Porter: Don't... don't care?
Peter Gibbons: It's a problem of motivation, all right? Now if I go take pictures, download, upload and post them and someone sees them I don't see another dime, so where's the motivation? And here's something else, Bob: I have eight different bosses right now.
Bob Slydell: I beg your pardon?
Peter Gibbons: Eight bosses.
Bob Slydell: Eight?
Peter Gibbons: Eight, Bob. So that means that when I make a mistake, I have eight different people coming by to tell me about it. That's my only real motivation is not to be hassled, that and the fear of losing my job. But you know, Bob, that will only make someone work just hard enough not to get fired.

It amazes me what people take pictures of and how often.

I know I cant believe it. I always get excited when I see theres a new post. What I think is really funny is that it has outlasted the pristine plumbing and electrical threads.

 that is funny.

Shows how we like to do things around here :D

most of us can't afford all the fancy stuff,we gotta made do with what we can create.....seeing how someone else makes something is more helpful than finding out where someone purchased something, therefore more people look for the DIY threads and keep 'em going :D

Insane, I don't doubt what your saying...

Personally, these blue party bulbs simply "Look Good" to my eye. And their cheep. I have plenty of high quality lighting over my tank to provide the needed photosynthesis.

This is the Ghetto Rig thread, so while we're on the subject, please allow me to share my 10 gallon canopy and light rig:

The light rig:

That's awesome just the idea I was looking for. Gonna have to borrow that design if you don't mind.:D

fantastic submission, I love the nice big reflectors with the towel in front of them. Id leave it as is, help keep things cool in the summer, and the fish always feel more at home with a beach towel near by.
