Ghetto Rig

Check out my emergency drain from my water change tanks and display stand. It goes downstairs, through a workout room and under the bench where my rough-in was.

I was too lazy to remove the junk I had in the window. Guess it stays now!

Insane, I don't doubt what your saying...

Personally, these blue party bulbs simply "Look Good" to my eye. And their cheep. I have plenty of high quality lighting over my tank to provide the needed photosynthesis.

This is the Ghetto Rig thread, so while we're on the subject, please allow me to share my 10 gallon canopy and light rig:

The light rig:

Just the blue party bulbs:

I hope these pictures are worthy of such an awesome thread.

I would silicone the screws where the wires tie into the sockets to reduce corrosion and perhaps avoid electrocution

It's going well so far. If all is good in another week or so, I'll give this little experiment it's own thread.

i love these pictures reminds me of some of the mad scientist fixes i have done over the years, wish i had pis to share with you all

I hope this is ghetto enough. Used a dremel and an aqua clear 110 to install a real skimmer on my new JBJ 28g. Nano. Works like a champ!

Ghetto wave box

One thing that I notice about aquarium's is when I put my open hand on the top of the the water surface and push down a few inches then then bring it up and repeat a few dozen times the water starts to have a really good wave in which I notice the coral's moving back and forth like crazy

I wonder if something can be designed where something like a toilet bowl ball and arm thing can be hooked up to something that would duplicate this movement maybe something electronic or motorized I just can't figure it out thou

atleast im sure it would be ghetto

A simple electric motor, that could have the speed adjusted. Attach an acrylic wheel to it and an arm attached to one edge of the wheel, with the ball or plunger at the bottom. The size of the wheel will be the length of the push/pull of the plunger. Ive been thinking about this for a while, but it would truly look ghetto on top of the tank lol.

#3 has got to be the energey saver bulbs and the blue party bulbs on that tank.

#2 the wave maker video very ghetto but you have def. struck an interest here with fine tuning that can be a great DIY wave maker

#1 Christmas lights Hood how the heck can you argue with that it has to be #1 i cant really see anything that can stand up to its Ghettoness
