GHL Mitras Club

Then the lack of access to the wifi settings, just so you can buy an adapter at a later date from them...

I wonder if there a technical reason for this, which i doubt, or if this is just profiteering?

The mac part is not an issue for me as I am a win/android user, however to me it is just stupid to already have a 2.4 ghz wifi raido built into every mitras so that they can communicate with each other... but not allow the user access to the config settings so that they can connect them to their own wifi network !!!

very good point and the radions fall into the same category but at least there is a work around for them.

The same workaround will work with the Mitras... I just shouldnt have to buy a $60 Belkin Homebase to do it with, when their is already a 2.4 ghz wifi raido built in to the mitras. The raidon's talk to each other with RF freq modulation, kinda like AM/FM (same as the vortech pump's) so I can see them not having wifi without an adapter...

I just still wonder if the "breakout box" will require a Proflux Controller to operate it, or if it will be something that will standalone and sync with a pc...:blown:

Guys before you all get upset and assume profiteering and all sorts of other negativity! -

You are confusing radio frequency with "network" Wifi!

as I said before the mitras (just as with the radion) uses radio frequency, this then needs to be converted to "Wifi" to talk to your router, this will be what the breakout box does, convert the radio signal for Wifi conectivity.

Why do lamps communicate over radio and not wifi to each other? simple - COST you would need a bridge in each unit and set up would be complex. So radio is used instead and a break out box is required to eventually link the units to your home network.

I'm looking forward to wireless connectivity! That'll be great.
Chercm, I'm curious (I already own Mitras, so I did my research and decided on them) why, after running radions g1, you decided to go with Mitras over the pros?

Does anyone know of a tank with GHL Mitras over it in the DC/Maryland area? I know of someone there who is looking to see one first hand and I wanted to see if anyone here is aware of one?

That's awesome! Great growth and great coloration.... really what more is there?

THANK YOU for sharing :)

Thanks...there was none of the greenish tint when I bought it and it looks amazing now.

I also just accidentally purchased another small frag of red planet a couple weeks ago as part of a frag pack from a local reefer that's been running these lights:

"Sfiligoi with 2x400w Radiums, 4 xT5s ( 2 Fiji purple , 2ATI blue +), all T-5s dimmable by Profilux"

Very shocked that the frag has not a hint of green in it...just solid purple. It's a gorgeous frag nonetheless. He's an amazing reefer and I'm definitely not trash talking/knocking him. Just amazed. Placed it in a different spot toward the back of the tank toward a corner to do a little experiment to see if it colors up as beautifully as this one toward the sides of the tank under the Mitras. Will post pics of that frag 6 months from now.

Too late to edit it into my original update, but here's the red planet frag Oct. 2012 when I first purchased it. Looking back it looks browned out...really amazing transformation...love my Mitras.

Tech question.
Was trying to set my light up again (its been sitting in the garage for a few months)

The light powers up and runs night lights but nothing else seems to work.
I can connect to it and save a program to it but when I disconnect nothing is working

Thanks

You are not then saving the project or uploading it to the lamp.

set your schedule in composer
press upload to Mitras
once loaded press save project.

Here is a behind the scenes look at Mitras being made, in this series of photos you can see the LED clusters being produced at the GHL lab.

Cool shots!
I'm playing around with the light composer for the first time and really have little idea of what I am doing, but since I have to tear down my tank and insulate the wall behind it to keep my neighbors happy, I have some extra time before the lights actually light up coral...
So, looking at the pre installed program, I see 7 time slots in which to create light intensities for each led.. Am I able to add extra time slots, like if I wanted to control intensities for each hour, could I have 12 or 14 time slots?
If not.. If I have to work with the 7 time slots, can I assume that the LEDs do a linear ramp up or down between each of the 7 time slots?
If I am in the wrong place for asking these questions, feel free to direct me to the right place..
Thanks!

Mitras

I have had my mitras on my tank for a week and a half now and so far so good. Heres some crappy iphone pics since i dont have a nice camera.

Thanks guys. This hobby is Killer isnt it?

Yeah Al, I dose Zeo K Balance, B balance, Pohls Xtra Special and Aminos. I also dose Lugols. I run ESV ionic 2 part. The crazy thing is I use no means of nutrient export. No pellets, GFO or refugium and with a Hanna low range Ph meter i get readings of .02 religiously. Its a mystery to me but I will take it.

Right now because I really like the blue look, I am running my midday lights from 11am to 5pm (V-60%, RB-90%, B-90%, CW-25%, G-10%, WW-20%, Y-10%, R-10%, HR-10%) on high output mode. To my eyes it looks almost exactly like my old 250w Radiums. I like the look but im afraid it might not be enough light for the SPS but I want to take it slow with the whites. What is everybody else running?
