hey Guys, can i assume the the following netbook will be adequate for controlling my mitras?

Acer Aspire One AOD270-1607 (Refurbished), Netbook (RED) - Intel Atom N2600 (1.60GHz), 10.1" LCD (1024x600), 1GB RAM, 320GB HDD, Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 3600, Wireless N, Webcam, 3-cell Battery, Windows 7 Starter, 1-year Warranty

also, if i were to go the profilux route in the future, would this do the job?

thanks!

Plenty of juice there, assuming it has USB port(s), good to go for both Mitras and Profilux

My aquarium is 72" Long 29" High and 27" Wide. I have three mitras over top of my aquarium and they are about 6.5" off the water and I have light all across the aquarium. I could raise them a bit more for more spread on the sides due to my rock work, but I think I'm good for now.

mtraylor, what are the dimensions of your tank?

I have mine set at 100%. I ramp the whites up to about 80% for one hour each day and the corals seem really happy. Both LPS and SPS so far.

Kazam, i just noticed that you are running 6 mitras.. what are the dimensions or your tank?
gotta be pretty awesome..

Isn't 6.5" too close?

How many Mitras would be needed for a 96"x24"x30"deep tank? Also, I own a Profilux and have heard that the Profilux can't control the Mitras. It's hard to imagine that two GHL product aren' compatible, but had to ask the question.
Thanks for your help.

Jefstathiou, you should be able to cover the tank with three fixtures. Profilux does have the ability to control the Mitras, but cannot do so until the wireless module is released.

Something I have not seen any mention of in reviews and users impressions which is very interesting is GHL Mitras 100% unique linear dimming technology.

This is where unlike standard digital dimming employed on other lamps, the voltage output to the LED is converted from stepped digital signal to an analogue wave form, meaning even when you get to sub 20% dimming you will see no step down percentage when watching the lamp dim, it will react in the same way a T5 does when dimming down, smooth and pretty much unnoticeable (depending on your time schedule between points) due to the 3,000 point dimming curve employed.

mtraylor, are you running them parallel or perpendicular to the tank?
any fts to show us? :)

I'm running mine Vertically from front to back. I have no complaints so far. I think I will have to tweek the spectrum to get to what I had on my old setup which was 3x400W MH Radiums with 320Watts of actinics. I need to give the setup some time to see how the corals react. I'm two weeks in now. I think I'm going to leave it alone for at least 1.5months. I have it more white in the day to more 20k in the evening. Best thing about this, is that I took a brown birds nest at day one and now its pink. Could never get pink out of the setup I used to have.

I will try and get a setup on one of those sites so I can post some pics. I have SPS from bottom to top of the aquarium, and I have noticed differences so far from all of them. The ones at the top of the aquarium show a difference in growth pattern. My red Planet tips on the edge have turned a real whitish color and is growing pretty fast. Didn't see the white tips on the halides as much. My other SPS have great clarity on the tips and growing with amazing color. Believe it or not, it was like going from regular tv to HD tv. The colors are amazing.

In one of my SPS about 4 inches off the bottom, Its a Red milli with green base, I think some of the green has left it. I'm not for sure if its due to polyp extension or not, but I'm riding it out. Its happy and I can still see the green in it a bit. I have a blue milli next to it and its georgeous. I have a sunset montipora in the sand and its glowing from the UV.

Will post pics soon.

The standard 14K preset blends really well with the 20K Radiums side by side.

Will there be an extension cable available soon. I need 3 to extend between my 3 fixture cable ends and the ballast cable ends.

3 X 3M long would be perfect but I would prefer OEM GHL with those most excellent twist lock connectors. If you could sources those for me Michael I would much appreciate it. Thanks!

:celeb2: Happy Holidays to everyone in the Mitras Club

Happy Holidays!

Trying to exert a little self control and NOT purchase a 120g setup I saw for sale today because I'd need another 2 or 3 Mitras fixtures...

I'm still loving this light. The growth and coloration are amazing. I really can't wait for an actual photographer to do my tank/this fixture some justice. A real camera and some lessons are on the to-do list, especially since a buddy offered to teach me...soon.

I had a naysayer say some negative things about the light. Actually this was the statement:

"GHL isn't doing their research, like nearly all other manufacturers. They keep adding more and more types and colors of LEDs without sitting down and figuring out what is actually needed. I've seen what the light can do, and it's disappointing at best, considering the hype and the insane price tag. The Maxspect R420R gives better looking light and color rendering for less than half the price. And by my calculations according to the power draw and LED specs, the Mitras doesn't put out all that much more usable PAR than the R420R. It has more controllability, but I just don't see $1,200 in that light fixture.

My two cents. "

I was honestly ****ed at first, but calmed down and reminded myself that the hobby is full of opinionated people...especially ones that know EVERYTHING. Didn't even bother to engage the guy in an argument...I'm just going to let the growth and color fight my battles in Oct. 13'. I'm not a dummy, I did my research and had not found a negative statement/aspect about the Mitras before I bought it. I really sat and read everything that I could find on it and felt that it was by far the best option available.

Sorry about the rant...just wanted to share.
