So what do you think about Coral+ and Purple+ or 2 Coral+?
doesn't really matter a whole lot unless the lamps will have a lot of distance between them. When I had my Nanobox OG hybrid, the lamps were around 6" apart and the tank looked the same front to back, but when I had a custom hood with a two lamps in it, there was about 9-10" between them and I could definitely tell that the front of the tank was more white and the back of the tank was more blue (had a Coral Plus in the front and Blue Plus in the back). Then that is what I will do! Thanks for the helpDo you have a recommendation as to placement? I was thinking Purple in front Coral+ in back and Kessils in the middle.
As long as the T5 won't be enclosed, then you won't need to add any fans. Do you have your Kessils on a controller or just a timer? I would start the T5 at four hours in the middle of your photoperiod, then add a half hour per week. I personally run 11.5-12.5 hour photoperiods (depends on the time of year, my controller adjusts as the days shorten and lengthen) but only about 4 hours is at peak intensity, and when I was running a T5 hybrid I had one set of lamps come on for four hours and one set for two hours, but I was also running it over a 40 breeder, so I was already maxing out my tank for the amount of light.I think they will be closer. Tank is 48x 24x 24x. Do you think I should add some fans? I was thinking about starting with 2hrs and increasing from there. I was thinking about 10-8 being the optimal run time for the lights.
If the back is open, I would not add any fans, as that would probably get the temperature of the T5 too low which can actually reduce their performance. The will be retro fitted into a canopy. The back is open but I guess I will add some fans just in case. The Kessils are on a controller. Will follow your suggestions regarding photoperiod with the T5's.
No problem, glad I could be of some helpOk, will install and go from there. I will update once I have a chance to get everything up and running. Interested to see what happens growth wise on some of my acros. Thanks again for the thread and answering some questions.
Yeah, but PAR isn't weighted, so even though the Coral Plus is brighter to the eyeSurprising that you got a higher PAR number on the Blue Plus than the Coral Plus. I always thought it was the opposite.
The Purple Plus yes, the ABS no. The ABS is not a great looking lamp IMHO unless mixed in a 6-8 lamp configuration. With four lamps, even adding one makes the tank look drab.Have you tested the ATI Purple Plus and Aquablue Special?
Everything is detailed in the OPjedimasterben,
What equipment are you using for measurements?

Unfortunately that one was not one of the lamps tested in the integrating sphere, though it would be interesting. In my personal measurements, there was not a significant difference between it and the Coral Plus.I feel that way about the purple plus, must be with a 6 or 8 combo. Overpowers, ime. What PAR did you record for it?
I don't have any here or easy access to them at this time. I have a four month old now so I don't have a lot of extra money for lamps and things I might not use againAny chance you could measure the GE 6500?
I saw mention of the Apogee early on but was not clear if that is what you used for your PAR measurements. I reread it and still didn't notice. At least not to me. Sorry if I'm overlooking the obvious!Everything is detailed in the OP![]()
