I felt was worth sharing what i did to my Giesemann infiniti. I really enjoy the shimmer from the Kessils and wanted to take advantage of all 3 lighting technologies. (LED, MH, T5)
I first took apart the metal plates on the Giesemann.
next i took apart the Kessil 160we
Then i used Reef epoxy and silicone to glue the lens to the outside of the metal plate.
Then glued the matrix LED to the top (under side when mounted) of the metal plate.
i was very careful not to take apart the components of the kessil light, i just re-ordered their placement
Putting it back together.
Put back up into the light. if you look closely i also installed Apex's Luner lights within the silver reflector of the MH.

I only added one Kessil, and i may add at least one more down the road, for symmetry. however i am pleased that i was able to make it work with out having to construct a huge hood over my tank.

Good job on this one. I am also thinking of doing the same with a Razor so that it can be programmed.

Yea I like the programming of the led technology, plus I think led's only compliment the mh and the t5's are amazing for enhanced coloration

Thanks! It took longer than i expected. I thought it would take me an hour, but it took 3, only because i wanted to make sure the reef epoxy i used cured decently before i mounted it in the light fixture again.

Can anyone send me a link or help me find a used silver giesemamn spectra? I want to buy one and put my radions in it. I love halide but it's not an option for me at this time. I'm looking for the 48" version

Right now I run one MH in a lumenarc mini with 4 39W t5s, and a 36" reefbrite, works good, looks terrible in DIY hoods I keep making, the Lumenarc mini is so large.
I was wondering if anyone knows how good the coverage would be on the 24" fixture. I would finally like to get one of these but my tank dimensions are a pain in the neck. I am tired of looking at my DIY hood, but my tank is 40" long, 24" Wide, and the 48" fixture wont fit the space, so I am left with either squeezing in two 24" fixtures who which would be way overkill, or one 24" fixture or staying put with what I have and trying to build a new hood.
I just changed my aquascape to make it more centralized, but i know over time the sps will grow out towards the glass, and I always I was also thinking of putting the 24" on the light mover to make up the difference, but that's not too pleasing to the eye either lol.

You could do two Spectra 24" hoods. They are 17" wide so you can hang 2 side by side and they would fit within the 40 inches you have lengthwise on the tank. And they would also fit perfectly within the 24" you have for width.

I still love your old tank, still one of my favorites I always go back and look at it. I love your new setup too, and I was looking at your website the other day and going through your pics and videos. I love it, exactly the size I want to get when I finally move and upgrade my tank. My tank was also built by Coast to Coast, you wont regret that, my tank is built like a tank lol
I have definitely been considering your option as well. I was thinking about that, but a few things gave me pause.
My tank is only 18 inches deep, and every time I add a second Halide, it seems to be too much for some sps, and it leaves me with no lower light spots at all, and some corals just cant take it. At one time, I tried running one halide then have it go off and run the second halide so they weren't on at the same time, and that did help a little
Another issue, is having the t5s across the tank like that, I thought might create an odd banded look.
The final thing that makes me cringe a bit, is having to waste money on replacing 8 t5s every 8- 12 months for no good reason rather than 2 24" or 36". I wish giesemann would make a 36" fixture lol.
Another plus to your suggestion is having both fixtures ready and waiting for when I upgrade tank size.
A downside is explaining to the wife how i ended up with these two amazing new fixtures over my tank instead of one lol

What about using a Elos light aren't they 36'' long and have dual MH I think they are double ended though.

Yes, but they are discontinued and haven't seen one of them for sale in a long long time lol. Unfortunately, all the new technology has driven quality MH into the ground. I regret not bought these years ago, or the sfigolio. You rarely see any of these high end lights up for sale anymore. I saw some xr6s for sale today, in the FS forum, but they are DE and I want to stick with SE and Radiums.

Yeah the DE are a lot easier to get and the Spectra are much tougher to find. I have the 24'' DE model. Those XR6s are very tempting.

Thanks Chris! That was a great tank. Yes, the new tank is pretty sweet as well.....now I just have to stock it with some sticks
I hear you regarding your dilemma. You may want to reach out to a Giesemann dealer and see if they can make a 36" fixture. When I was talking with Aquarium Specialty they said Giesemann could have made custom a 5' long fixture for my tank. Anyway, good luck.
