Giesemann Lighting Club.

I love it! I am planning on running my spectra with two Kessil's for similar reasons. Haven't started my build yet but soon! I'd love to see how your tank looks with LEDs only running.

I really like the retrofit of the 160's hidden inside the spectra fixture. Kessil blues with radiums...cant ask for much more

Barely any reviews on these things
GMann doesn't get much traction in the US. They've had terrible distribution for years and they are high end prices. Doesn't make for a ton of sales.

I'm glad CoralVue has them now. Getting a hanging kit for my fixture was painless

Anybody ever mounted night lights to their spectra? I'm wanting to order a 3 led string from Neptune systems and mount them to my 48" spectra. I'm thinking I could bolt them to the mesh grating. Just not sure the 24" cable between the lights is long enough...

Yeah, I saw that above. I'd be curious to see what that does to the look of the fixture. Not sure I want to mount something that large/bulky to the exterior of the fixture. That's why I was thinking of the small neptunes mounted underneath

In one of the other forums, someone mounted a Hydra 24 HD in-between the halide reflectors. Looks clean and it's give you the moon lights.

Can anyone tell me the light spread of the spectra? I have a 52" front to back peninsula tank. I am all hydras now but thinking about adding an my/t5 combo or a full t5 unit.

Looking for a 72" unit.

Anyone here has the Vervve? I am considering 4 or 5 units to replace my 8x80w Matrixx ii dimmable unit but 1) have not seen any user reviews and 2) I have a couple of Giesemann Teszla units that I was never too happy with.

However, I live in Europe and over here 4 units (1 master and 4 slaves) would cost me 2.330€ whereas 4 Radion pros would set me back 3600€...!!! It is a huge difference!

Aurora

Aurora

Hi all

I just got 2 aurora fixtures and was wondering how to set these up as master and slave. I only seem to be able to connect to any one fitting at a time.

Any help would be great.

Thanks.

What happened to the Giesemann Genesis?

Hi, Giesemann told me that the Genesis should be out in September. They also confirmed that it will not be a replacement of the Aurora, but rather a lower cost option.

I have the 72" unit over my 72"x48"x24" peninsula. You can find the video here.

And a more recent one.

Depending on what you want to keep. It should be fine if you don't mind the light cut off on the sides or mount the unit a little higher.
You can also mount T5 fixture or retrofit(if you have a canopy) on the sides if you load up your tank with corals on the sides.
I was thinking about mounting two of these 2x80W Geisemann retro but I've been putting it off since I don't think I really need to run the extra electricity. Been happy with the Spectra fixture.

Id like to get some comments on spectra: positive/ negative. I read about heating concerns but not much is said by owners about this. Ease/hassle of t5 ballast changes, how often, etc. Switching from ati 8x54 dimmable which has grown coral great just looking for change. Likely to bolt on reefbrite as ive done with ati as well. Hoping to hear from longer term spectra users with insight. Thanks -Greg

I've been using my Spectra for about a year and a half. I've had Radions and an ATI dimmable Sunpower. The Spectra is the best light I've used of all these. Why?

No fans. Despite three 400w halides and four T5 bulbs I don't have any fans running and don't need them. It's a dead quiet fixture. I do run a chiller and if I didn't the water temp would increase. In fact my old chiller failed the other day and my water would get to about 82F. With chiller I'm steady at 78F.

Metal halide. My corals love the MH. They grow towards the bulbs. They don't grow towards the T5s.

It's simple. While I liked the tweaking options of the Radions it was a pain to dial in and I always felt a need to tweak. I have installed a pair of Kessils into my Spectra between the MH bulbs. I did this because I like the florescence that a very blue LED can give. Actinics come close to that, but not as much as LEDs. You use Reefbrite so you understand.

The fixture looks great. Of all the T5 or MH fixtures out there it has the best looking design.

It just works. I've had no problems. Haven't had to change a T5 ballast, but if I did it would be simple. As I mentioned, I installed a pair of Kessils into the Spectra. I've taken the thing apart as much as possible. It's built simply and like a tank.

Thanks for the feedback eye
I can see that if u went as radical as kessil mod you know how its built!
