Gig lighting?

Well I purchased a carpet just over a week ago and is still going strong. Question is I am getting its new home ready, 90 gallon tank, and I was originally planning on a 6 bulb T5 set-up but I noticed on the current 4 bulb T5 tank its in, it is slowly starting to move up on the rocks. It has taken the whole week just for it to move a couple of inches, but I really was hoping for it to stay on the sand/rock interface.

Is the planned 6 bulb T5 set-up okay? Also considering going with one side of the tank with a halide bulb and the rest T5's. I do not want to by a chiller, or really I can not by a chiller. If I went with a single halide on one side to make it happy, what would be the lowest wattage recommended? Anyone have a tank with a halide on only one side, and T5's, PC's, or VHO's on the other?

I will post pictures of the carpets progress.

Your tank is a lot bigger than mine, but the width is not that much more. I would thank that my 6 bulb set-up would be similar to your 8 bulb when you compare the tank width dimensions. Yours is also deeper than my 90, so I might be okay.

Hmmm, I dunno. My gig has been under a 250 watt halide/T5 combo in a 70 gallon tech since March, and just yesterday it started crawling up.

And mine has been under 250 watt from day one and has always been on the rocks and stands up like it is looking for light:(
But only the yellow one does it not the purple so i dunno what it is...
