Gigantea's Mouth

stonecold

I have a purplish/lavender Gig for almost 2 months. I've fed it shrimp every other day. It looks to be healthy...but its mouth has not closed tight shut. There may be 3 days over the course of 2 months that I've seen the mouth shut.

Is this a bad sign?

You are overfeeding. I would cut the feedings to every 2 weeks at the most and hope for the improvement.

Mouth gaping a little is fine, but spilling out its insides is not. Try adjusting light and flow a little. I notice that my gig moves its mouth quite a bit. Once sec tight and then 10 seconds later a little open. I think if it catches some small food in the water it opens its mouth a little.

The mouth is open, but no spilling from the inside. I will cut down on the feeding as suggested by MainaP. Hope for the best.

Happy Holidays, everyone!!
