Gigs and Angels

So do Gigs and angels get along? Or has anyone seen this behavior before?

I got a new blue Gig, (very stoked) been looking some time for right one. QT with meds 7 days, now in DT a week never deflated. Then yesterday i noticed my small juvi Majestic Angelfish hanging very close to the gig. I was worried he would be dinner. Today he is so brave to go inside, appears to be blowing water at it. doesn't look like he nip the gig. Gig does not seem to care, doesn't deflate.

Gig is sticky, grabs mysis out of water and eats.. i have not officially feed it anything yet.

I have 2 haddoni, 6 bulbs acans and clams.. angel doesn't go near them.

sorry crappy iPhone with dirty glass.. keeping up QT taking my time the last few weeks.

About 8 years ago, I had an angel like that, maybe 2 years I had it. One day, I added a haddoni carpet. Right before my eyes, the angel made a meal out of it. If I was to guess, the clock is ticking for your carpet. Good luck.

Afraid that was the case.. taylor_t your in Chi town want a Maj Angel at a good price. Got friends that might be interested.

Simple solution: add a pair of clownfish to the anemone. They won't let anybody near their anemone, let alone take a bite out of it.

I got a Regal angel that hide in my Haddoni when I first added him into the DT to keep the tangs from bother him. I almost have a heart attack seeing him use the Haddoni like that. He was fine after a few days.

Oh wow, that's crazy.

I saw a bleached anemone all torn to pieces floating at LFS tank with a pretty good size juvenile angelfish in it. The anemone looked like a BTA. I have no doubt the angelfish was the culprit.

Thanks, but no thanks. If anything, I'm in dismantle mode from here on out, not adding anything else.
Gary M (I forgot his last name) has a brown gig with an angel in his 225 gallon tank, but he has clowns. I don't know the order he combined them. They've done fine together for years, so it's not impossible, just has risks. Your angel/gig combo MAY do ok, but not a risk I personally would take. It can be done, but just be aware, there may be trouble and you may not see it until too late. Having clowns in the carpet may help. I know, hard choice/risk, both beautiful animals. Best of luck to you.

I know the feeling i went from fear of eating to oh my it's eating it. Beautiful regal and nems.

Quick Update

After some time i caught the Maj and in refugee waiting for pick up today. Even if the clowns kept him away.. he would turn over to other apparently tasty treats.

I am still shock an angel can gobble up a carpet. I did notice he stay far away from haddon.

I got the Regal Angel, Three Flame angels, and Watanabe angel pair in my 320 DT. Three Hadonies, 4 Giganteas and a Magnifica in my tank. A Black snow flake pairs and a Picasso/Onyx pair in my tank. So far, more than 1 year, everything seem fine.

Anyone have experience with emperor Angels and nem's? I'm going to be picking one up soon

That was my combo. I won't try again, but I've seen others keep this combo.

Swtiching Gears.. the Blue Gig is doing good so far, I QT him with a flower pot and was afraid to move him from it when added to DT.

How do i get him out of the clay plot and into a nice pile of rocks.. After all this i don't want to harm it but really not found of the pot in there as well.

Ideas?

My queen was good with my btas for a few months, then one day she ate one. It took like 15 minutes to put down the tentacles. I moved the nems, the fish is too awesome to get rid of.
