Go Big OR Go Home! Construction of a 1000 gallon System!!

Really cool. The table Acropora corner gives a natural look. The Pygoplites doesn't eat the corals? What do you feed him?

Nope! He eats mysis, and pellet food. He is one of my favorites!

Nice looking tank!! It looks at though there is not much live rock in there. Must just be an illusion.

He has alot more in a bin in his fishroom...

I would imagine that in a display this size, 300 or so pounds of rock gets lost really fast!

That too :)

Here is my tank with about 525lbs of baserock in it and his tank is 2ft longer...

See what I mean?

525 pounds of rock in your tank looks like 100 pounds or less in my 120!

With all the rock you guys are holding in back of the display vessles, the rock in the display just becomes someplace to attach corals and for the fish & critters to call home.

You gotta love big sump rooms!

I wanted to share some very interesting events that have taken place over the past few months. One of the first fish I bought for my tank were Lyretail Anthias. I bought 10 females and 1 male. Since then I had one female "morf" into a male about 4 months after I got them. It took about 2 weeks to go from a female to a male. I don't blame them, if I were a female I would want to morf into a male if I had the ability too!! Anyway, just last month I had another female morf into a male. Absolutely amazing to watch!! It took about 2 weeks for a full transition. So, now I have 3 males and 8 females. I guess I have 3 different "clicks" of schooling fish to have 3 males. Anyway, I am upset that I didn't take pictures of the transformation over the 2 weeks. If it happens again, I will for sure take a picture of the transformation once a day. That would be a cool set of pictures to see!! Anyway, the tank is doing good. I did have a coral show some red bugs, it got pulled about 2 months ago and had no signs of them yet. I also had a coral with AEFW and it was pulled too. KNOCK ON WOOD, I hope they do not come back. I plan on waiting a few more months before buying any more corals to make sure the AEFW do not come back..... Fish are doing well, getting very fat. I did have the Vlamingi get a serious case of pop-eye on one eye, and I am a little worried because it has not healed all the way, and I think he has lost some vision in that eye. I am hoping it heals.. Anyway, I will post some pictues soon of the growth in the tank. I have recently, well about 2 months ago, added a GEO Calcium Reactor. I am very happy with this unit, it is large and in charge. With the Ca Reactor and the top off Kalk mix, my parameters are staying solid; Ca, Mg, Alk.. My next big purchase will be a natural gas powered generator for the tank. I also want to buy a few more Tunze Streams for the tank, and a few nano streams for the coral grow out tank. I also plan on getting a Blue Line and a Male Scribble Angelfish soon. Then I will be getting all the many wrasses I want. This will go along with the 10 tangs I have...

1 Mystery Wrasse (male) (Psuedochellinus ocellatus)
1 Rhomboid Fairy Wrasse (male) (Cirrhilabrus Rhomboidalis)
1 Rhomboid Fairy Wrasse (female) (Cirrhilabrus Rhomboidalis)
1 Lineatus Fairy Wrasse (male)
1 Lineatus Fairy Wrasse (female)
1 Hawaiian Flame Wrasse (male) (Cirrhilabrus jordani)
1 Hawaiian Flame Wrasse (female) (Cirrhilabrus jordani)
1 Laboutei Fairy Wrasse (male)
1 Australian Scotts Wrasse (male) Cook Island
1 Australian Scotts Wrasse (female) Cook Island
1 Exquisite Wrasse (Cirrhilabrus exquisitus)

read up on the scribble as I have not heard good things about them and reefs. and watch out for the Rhomboids. I bought a "pair" and one tried to kill the other in QT. I had to move the agressive one to the display and the other one did a fish stick. They are serious jumpers!

sex changes are cool...wish you had pics but then again, I wish I had video of my female maroon clown helping the GBTA split. :D

awesome tank

awesome tank

congrates on such an awesome set-up. I am hoping to do the same myself in the near future, after i build my new home hehehe.

Ive noticed a lot of questions about your stand and thought i may be able to help out on the levelling compounds. I am in the building industry and know that all flooring companies use floor levelling compounds before laying vinyll floors and ssometimes carpet, so to all looking into leveeling compounds try your local carpet selling out lets.

Im keen to see more pictures of your set up, its truely amazing.

Chris
