Go Big OR Go Home! Construction of a 1000 gallon System!!

The aqua-scape looks better then before, I really like how it is even more open now!

Glad to hear that! I think you are even more anal about rock placement than I am. If that's possible. LOL

So how bout some updated post-swap pics?

Nope! Sold everyhting off. Moving.. Built a house.. Might get back into it in a year or so, but "much" smaller!!

How could not build a new home around a new 1000g system. Tsk, tsk, tsk. Ya slipping mon. :)

What to do when current house is sold and new house is being built? That was my delema. We have to live in an apartment for 3 months. So, it would be very costly to house all that "stuff". Plus, who (besides everyone on this forum) would want to buy a house with that tank and fish room in it? So, we had no choice but to tear it down before we put house up for sale...

That's funny who (besides everyone on this forum)..hahahah

I figure when the time comes for me I will pull min out the wall sheet rock and make it a closet and just keep everything in the garage till the final move. But I have to go bigger on my next house. At least my display, everything else I wont change.

Seriously though what do you think the biggest things you learned from having a big system? What volume would you go with next time and why?

My next system will have a tank 48Lx30Wx22H. With about 65 gallon sump. Much cheaper, less electricity cost, re-occurring costs were high such as bulbs, media, food, SALT, and so on with my big tank.

Things I learned: Stay on a maintenance cycle and everything will be just fine. Such as water changes, carbon, media, filter socks and so on. The more you keep things the same and regulated the less chance for a drastic change to the system that could effect everything. Make slow changes it address any issues. If it ain't broke don't fix it. There is never an earth shattering gotta have save my life product out there. If your system is running great, why buy something that is "supposed" to make it better.

my 2 cents!
