Go Big OR Go Home! Construction of a 1000 gallon System!!

I added the Blue Line Angel to the main tank last night. There was alittle aggression with the Desjardini. But all is much better today, and he is eating! Its funny how all the fish get edgy when I upset there little world. Thankfully I do not plan on adding any more large fish. I do plan on adding a 2 Potters and another Flame Angel. But the rest are wrasses and small fish.

I might in the future add a Gem Tang, or a Conspic, and/or a Morish Idol.

That stand is rediculously overbuilt and completely awesome at the same time:thumbsup: :spin1:

Good luck with your project.

Has your stand been designed by a structural engineer ?

Just looking at the design, I would recommend angle braces along the length. There is a risk of collapse along that path if bracing is not used. You can't be too careful when taking on a project as you have.

Wish you all the luck with it.

New Blueline Pics:

Got any Updates?

All the fish are doing great! Even the Blue Line is now eat mysis. But, my corals are a different story. I went away on vacation (Murphy's Law) and came home to a few dead corals. I think I have a few issues causing this problem.

1. I have a high phosphate level in my tank due to high feeding, and how bad the water is around here causing my RO/DI to get exhausted real fast; then leaching PO4 in the top off tank. I have added a Phosphate media reactor and started using ROWAPHOS. I plan on running this, and carbon 24/7 now. I have already been running carbon 24/7.

I also have been planning on getting a bigger DI unit that I can regen myself, this would help with PO4 in the top off water.

2. My Calcium reactor was set up to feed directly into the sump, this (I feel) would cause the low pH levels I have been noticing at night. So, I moved the effluent of the Calcium Reactor to the skimmer. This will help release any free CO2 into the atmosphere. This will hopefully solve my pH issue. If not, I might have to redesign my kalk tank-mixer.

Since I have high PO4, the other corals are getting white tips. The PO4 has also caused a break-out of nuisance algae.

I also plan on trying to keep up with my 150 gallon monthly water changes.

Anyway, I hope things get better with these changes. And yes, the changes are being made very slow.............

I just got through reading your entire build thread and I must say your tank is a work of art. Sorry to hear about your corals and I hope you get your levels back in check.

omg how much did you lose? whats the size of your phosphate media reactor? and brand of carbon you running, thanks.

I lost 2 large corals. The others have white tips, but it has stopped.

I bought a 3000 mL fluid media reactor.

I use ESV Carbon, but have used ChemGone in the past.

I'm tagging along!
Sorry to hear about your SPS loss. I sympathize as I have lost of a few colonies myself.
