Any updated FTS or equipment room shots??

Not really. I am going to get a larger carbon filter and use my current carbon filter as a new phos filter as the current one is too small also.

I will try and post some pictures this weekend!

one solar panel won't help or even be possible, they need to be installed in pairs and several to make the cost of the inverter et al worth it.

i am getting the whole package /system enough to power the entire house and maybe sell extra to edison during the day. so my bill will be next to zero . i seen the solar panel in your daughters inheritance.

preventing overflow with an airvalve

preventing overflow with an airvalve

If the filter socks start to reduce flow I have a air valve on my overflow that restricts air flow and increases water flow. Once the socks get to clogged (about 5 days) then I replace with ones I just cleaned.

Can you explain this air valve? Sounds like exactly what I need to do on my system.

Time for an update. Been a few changes in the past few months!!

Well, the big event was the tank had started to separate in the back corner. The silicone "snapped one day and the two glass panels on the back corner started to pull away. Fortunately, there was no water leak. I called the tank manufacture about it and he immediately started to build me a new tank. But this time I had a lot of extra support added. The Eurobracing was 1" think, and there was an extra glass strip put on all seams, just like the bottom panel.

So, finally the day came to swap out the tank. The tank manufacture drove the new tank down along with 3 guys. They were going to stay and help move the old tank out and put the new tank in. Before they showed up a few friends and I moved all the rock/fish/coral/water into sumps. I just bi-passed the tank and kept the system running. I know those sumps would come in handy!!!!

Anyway, the livestock was out of old tank on a Thursday, the new tank was installed on a Friday, and the majority of the livestock was in the new tank on Saturday. So, it was HELL but I got it done!!!!

I decided to go with a bare bottom, tired of dealing with the sand. One of my sumps has a deep sand bed so I was not worried about going bare bottom. The aqua-scape looks better then before, I really like how it is even more open now!

The only losses was a Goldflake angel and (2) anthias, so far!

I have recently treated myself to a "make me feel good" purchase after that hell I went through!

I bought a Conspic Angel, Goldflake Angel, and a pair of Flame Wrasses. They are all doing well and are eating mysis!!!

I left the sohal, bristltooth and sand gobie in the sumps!

Here is my current fish list:

1 Naso Blonde Tang, Male
1 Vlamingi Tang
1 Dussumieri Tang
1 Sailfin (Desjardini) Tang
1 Sohal Tang â€"œ IN SUMP
1 Powder Blue Tang
1 Achilles Tang
1 Yellow Tang
1 Purple Tang
1 Blue Hippo Tang
1 Orangeshoulder Tang
1 Flame Fin Tomini Tang â€"œ IN SUMP
3 Lyretail Anthias, Male
10 Lyretail Anthias, Female
1 Bimaculatus Anthias, Female
1 Bimaculatus Anthias, male
1 Goldflake Angelfish
2 Regal Angelfish â€"œ ONE IS IN SUMP
1 Blueline Angelfish
1 Conspicillatus Angel
1 Chrysurus Angel
1 Flameback Pygmy Angel
1 Flame Angel
1 Pair Flame Wrasses
1 Blood Red Hawkfish
1 Dragon Goby â€"œ IN SUMP
1 Pair Vanuatu Melanopus Clowns
1 Green Carpet Anemone w/ 3 Amphiprion Clarkii Clowns
1 Purple Ritteri Anemone w/ 2 True Percula Clowns

Wow! Quite a story!!!

Very lucky you did not have a catastrophic failure!!!!

Glad it is working out OK and the tank builder stood behind his work.
