Gobie74's wide peninsula 200

I've been monitoring Alk, Cal, and Mag ever other day now and for the past couple weeks levels have been steady with dosing 12 ml, 1ml, 1ml respectively of Balling Light solutions 8 times per day.

Last night I noticed my first decrease in Cal and Mag so I bumped those doses up to 3ml. So that gives me some number evidence that corals/clams are starting to use some calcium. And the ole' eyeball method shows me that colors are returning, polyp extension is getting better, and overall the tank is looking healthier after the shock of the move.

I put the refugium online with some cheato and rubble from the old tank. Tried to move as many critters as possible. Some went right into the display and became snacks for the fish.

The only thing left to do is get another BRS deluxe reactor to fill with some NP Reducing BioPellets I have waiting.

No new frags or clams yet. Still giving everything a while to settle in. Soon tho.

Tried to take a few coral pictures so that in time I can do some before and after shots, my photography skills are still lacking :(

Very nice. Thanks for the pics of the hanging kit. I'm always surprised when people are able to run LEDs so far off the water.

Third pic down...is that a Formosa? And what happened to the top..looks like something picked at it. I'm guessing the right branch was just a frag job.

Keep an eye on that Cat's paw....looks like you have some algae trying to take over on the bottom. You might even be able to turkey baste some of that off.

Don't worry about your photography skills. Your pics look better than mine. :p

Yeah, I pulled the algae out of there last night. Came off in a nice big clump, def have to keep an eye on it tho. I wanted to pull the whole piece out but an anemone has taken up residence on the bottom of it and I don't really want to pull it out of the water just now.

Not sure which pic you mean about the formosa, the teal coral? I didn't notice anything wrong with the top. Right branch frag job? Not if I'm looking at what you are looking at, things were so crammed into my old tank there was a war for space and light going on. Some things didn't do so well. Now with the bigger tank I am able to separate things out a bit more.

Gobie what type of camera are you using, the pictures are look great

I'm using a Nikon D70 with a 18-55mm lens. ( I think its 55, will double check tonight ) I've been shooting everything in jpeg but I'm learning more about RAW so will probably switch soon. Just don't have any tools for it and Photoshop is WAY too expensive for a hobbyist. And thanks :)

Actually, I need to pay more attention when I type, I looked again, it was the second pic down I was referring to. Absolutely makes sense that it looks like that if it was cramped/growing too close with other corals.

Third looks like a very nice, healthy Digi. :)

The Nikon D70 is nice. I've had a hard time with night shots under my LEDs. It's difficult to get a true representation of the colors, and with the top downs I always get a lil reflection of the leds in the water. Good luck...I look forward to seeing them.

Was playing with a RAW image, I noticed saving it to jpeg really kills the quality vs png. Unfortunately, the host I'm using (photoshop.com) doesn't seem to allow png.

WoW is right, beautiful fts.....Love that flame angel...

Funny thing is, its not even a full tank shot, its the center portion with a foot or more of tank left on each side as seen from the kitchen.

By the time finished playing with the above image, the sun (1) had already begun to set (2) so I figured I'd try more shots tomorrow.

1 - LEDs
2 - power down from 100%

:spin1:

Picked up a new crocea clam, a Hawkins coral, and two cleaner shrimp last weekend.

Unfortunately the pictures of the coral and shrimp are giving me some trouble, so just the crocea for today.

wow tanks looks great. do you find that you have enough flow at the end of the tank ?

Definitely, I have some LPS ( torch, hammer, frogspawn ) frags at the end of the tank and they let me know how much flow I have by how much they are waving around, especially the torch. Lots of movement when the pumps are at high speed. ( Vortechs are on Tidal Swell mode so they aren't always at high speed )

The teal digitata in a picture a few posts back is also at the end of the tank and its coloring up real nice and there's growth. So I'm not worried about the flow.

A few new corals I got from a local reefer who was tearing down a tank, I really like the chalice!

Hopefully more images coming, I'm getting better at taking shots ( I think ) and I picked up a copy of Photoshop ($$$). We'll see what I can produce!
