Going from standard 55 gallon tank to 260 gallon tank.

Hey Rick isnt that the same type of power strip that caused the fire in my closet? Be careful! And put your purse away before you start taking pics.

Great build. Keep up the good work.

I agree with others. With the new propeller systems now a days, i wouldn't risk the down falls of closed loop systems. Other may disagree, just my $0.02.

I'm still working on the close loop idea. So far I seen couple of thanks with and with out close loop.

I guess it comes down to money, re selling the tank and flow.

You ever think about recessing the Dj strip and making a smoke gray/Blk acrylic cover to prevent accidental power offs?

Wet- Its not about that. Its about......The significant other will not appreciate 260 gallons of salt water on the floor. I have yet to see a check valve that works for an extended period of time, unless you change them every year or more..... Including the Savko clear $$$$ ones. Again IMHO.

Eddie, why will I need a check valve? I was assuming that a close loop will come down from the tank to the pump and back to the tank. If there is a power failure the water will just stop circulating and come back to circulation once power back up.

Depending on how its set up, im sorry, didnt understand your diagram, if you have a power failure and the closest air siphon is half way in your tank, you need a huge sump, or check valves (which again IMHO cant be trusted). I might be wrong, but again dont understand the diagram.

Also a leaking bulk head in a return at bottom will empty you tank. I know it sounds apocalyptic but a bulk head leaks occur. If on a regular return it only dumps whats on your return side, not a whole tank.

Is been almost a month from the last update of my tank.

New update:
Piped the close loop pump with PVC up to the bottom of the tank.

Next step will be to drill the tank with 2-11/2" and 4-1" holes.

Yeah buddy!!! pump came in and after some modification to the skimmer (cut the down tube and the main body 2" and also pulled out the bio balls) the sump is complete.
