going to belize!! yippy =)

ok going to belize... for 10 days, staying on ambergeas caye (sp). anyone been there? whats best place to dive etc? and also this is the first time ill be away frokm my tank for that long..any suggestions of what not to do. i have someone replenishing water, lights are on timer, and im going to buy an automatic feeder.. only have 2 small fish and bunch of corals.

and is there anything i could bring home from there for my tank =) well wish me luck. hopefully i should be able to post many pics..

I've never been there, but anyplace with a clean beach and bright sunshine is okay with me
As far as your tank, don't make any changes in the 3 or 4 days before you leave. start using that automatic feeder now so you can be sure it's working correctly. You don't want it to dump 10 days worth of food in the tank 5 minutes after you leave the house
As far as bringing things home, it's not advisable. I'm not familiar with the laws regarding taking live animals from the ocean in Belize, but I wouldn't want to chance breaking them. I'm pretty sure that Customs would be more than happy to at least fine you heavily for attempting to smuggle live animals into the US.
Play it safe, don't try to bring anything home. Have a great time!

have a great trip. i was there in March and had a great time, although could not dive as much as i wanted due to high wind. the barrier reef is really close to the shore, which is nice. you can go out and dive, come back for breakfast and go back out. i recommend Everett and Ines at Belize Diving Adventures for dives close to shore and Amigos Del Mar if you venture out to Turneffe or Blue Hole.

don't even think about removing anything from the sea; you are not even permitted to wear gloves while diving as they fear it will lead people to touch things. take only pictures/leave only bubbles

and remember, everyone is on island time
