Gold Flake Angel Reef Safe?

Plenty of food as nothing to do with it. I'm sure he will do like so many others have and all of a sudden take a liking to them, I know mine sure did.

best of luck, if you don't already have one, I would reccomend picking up/borrowing an acclimation box, and keeping him in there for the better part of 1-2 weeks. That way he gets used to eating the food you feed, and not nipping on your corals

IME 'fleshy lps' like Lobo, Trachy, Acan and some Blasto's are not safe with angels. Fungia, Euphyllia, Plerogyra and so on mostly are. Zoa: nothing else then fishfood 
Even though I do appreciate these corals a lot, they don't have a long-term chance together with angelfish. Instead of choosing a fish to go with your coral selection, you can also choose corals to go with your fish selection. Replace the 'non-fishsafe' corals by 'fishsafe' ones. This enables you to have both a great looking reef and (lots of) nice fishes.

So true. Due to my love for angels, I only keep leathers, mushrooms and ricordia. My fish are the show pieces and the corals are the atmosphere. :dance:

Got my little baby, Madeline and she LOVES pellets. She grazes all day and hasn't touched any coral since Friday. She's now my favorite fish.

I used to have a Gold Flake and a 6" French Angel in a mixed reef and neither touched anything. Yes, I said French!
On the other hand, I had a African Flameback angel in a mixed reef and it picked at everything, including SPS.

It has been a few years, but the goldflake angel is doing great still. I started out with a mixed reef with zoas and LPS. The GF did not bother any of those. Now I have transitioned to a full SPS reef. Still no trouble whatsoever. I feed the goldflake mostly New Life Spectrum Marine pellets along with frozen brines and mysis shrimps. The fish loves nori as well. Gets along great with all the other inhabitants including a couple of other angel fish: regal angel and coral beauty. Here are some updated photos.

Gold flakes have been in the hobby for years, just when they were first brough in, the prices were upwards of $400 so most people didn't keep them.
I had mine in a mixed reef for several years before I lost him due to a power outage. he was a model citizen, never bothering anything. But I also kept him well fed.

It is not a hybrid. I put a chronological of the pictures from the time I got the fish until now to show the changes as it reaches adult hood. Notice how the tail is now mostly yellow instead of black. The mouth area is losing much of the blue coloration. I am not sure what the final coloration will look like once all is said and done.
