Good Cameras

I've been able to capture some decent macro shots using a 9 year old 4mp nikon coolpix 4300. It's a simple point and shoot with some manual features.

I've found the key is to use a tripod, and to seek quality via quantity. I usually end up taking 15-20 shots using different settings, then deleting most of them once uploaded to my computer.

i should have mentioned none of them were on a tripod, but yes tripod def makes everything more crisp. I also end up deleting a lot of pics.

i have a few older pocket size power shots and my 5.0 mp takes some really nice pics as well.

so many options, i remember it was daunting. good luck. google is your friend.

I always hear people suggesting tripods. It makes sense, but in reality... I never use my tripod. Get the shutter speed up to 1/60 sec or faster. And you don't necessarily need an expensive camera. I know people with thousand dollar cameras that can't take a decent picture.

i have a canon 20D and i love it. Has way more features than i need/will probably ever use. I have a Tameron 90mm lens and i love it, takes great pics. No tripod, but i could see how that could help. Bought it used and it came with the standard 15-75mm lens i think and i bought the 90mm new. On craigslist you can usually find good deals. Or Rowe in rochester has good used camera also, and used lens. Im not sure if their out in buffalo also.

I have always struggled with aquarium photography. I think I'm halfway good with photography in general but it just never turns out well when I take photos of aquariums. Some day I'd like to corner one of you guys who take great aquarium photos and watch you do it.

I think I take "okay" pictures with the camera I have now. I would like to step it up though and I don't just want it for my aquarium, I would love to get into taking pics of nature. I've been using google like crazy lol. I appreciate all of you guys helping me out.
