good decision?

Last night I went into petco, only for a mouse. And I decided to have a goodd laugh and walked to thier saltwater fish department after I mopped the floor with my clothes my laughing so hard at thier lack of hospitalitly towards thee marine fish I stopped in awe. In the most vile of thier tanks, the fish most litterally sweating out ich I saw a shimmer of what I have been looking for, a gorgeous carpet anenome that had a hue of blue and green. I have desperately looking for one and have yet to find one under 200 $ but this one was marked T 29.00 $ they clearly did not know what they had sitting in that disease bowl. As much as I wanted to throw them my money and take this hidden gem home I decided other wise due to the poor conditions of his tank mates.


I had a hard time sleeping because I want it so bad but I don't want to take the risk of damaging my reef tank... what would you guys have done with no QT?

Might be worth setting up a QT just for this anemone and taking it back down after.

10 gallon tank, very small cheapo powerhead, air filter, and heater. A lot of people successfully don't even use a powerhead.

Set up a QT to qurantine and treat the anemone if needed

I would suggest that you make 100% sure it is not a Helianthus carpet first. Petco is known for carrying them, and they often show hints of blue, green and purple. However, they are notorious fish (including clown) eaters, and should be avoided IMO.

You really need to separate the anemone from the PH/Heater. I like the 20 g becasue it is longer. Petco is having 1 dollar per gal sell right now, at least here in Texas.

I have never seen this sale although if I did I would have not gotten a biocube lol


The anem did have rather spikier looking edges is this the one you are warning me of?

I just lost $650 worth of anemones by introducing a gig that went through QT just not properly. I say QT it or don't get it. And get some cipro and treat if necessary. This second step is very necessary if you have other carpets in that tank. I have put haddoni in my display without qt successfully. But after this last heart wrenching event I will QT
all carpets.
