Good grade pickling lime in Canada

Hi guys I was wondering if food grade Calcium Hydroxide would be OK to use. I am based in Toronto, Canada and we don't get Mrs. Wages pickling lime here. I did read a very old thread here someone using it from Alphachem Labs but tht thread does not exist here anymore. Would help if someone can chime in. Thank you

Good luck finding a Canadian supplier for food grade stuff. I've never been able to.

I usually get the BRS Kalk, but with the dollar being so crappy, I now go with reefsupplies.ca

There is a company in Mississauga,ON called Alphachem Ltd and they have USP Grade Calcium Hydroxide. They sell 2Kg bag for $30 or a 25kg bag for $70. I have asked them to provide MSDS sheet but that can only come once i place the order. Maybe i will give it a try once i run out of my seachem kw and see how it goes..

Thats exactly my point..i am sure the one being sold by alphachem should be ok to use.

For whatever reason, I believe that the government banned the sale of it for home use.

I've been using calcium hydroxide purchased from farm co-ops for over 20 yrs now without any problems. Definitely not food grade though.
