Goodbye Crule World

My Canon 40D and 24-70 f/2.8 were stolen Halloween night. I was photographing some friend's sexy costumes and put the camera in the car. The next morning it was gone. I'm crushed. They even have my tripod quick disconnect. For now I don't have a camera. I do have a lot of other lenses and with my love of photography I vow to someday return, but for now I can't afford a replacement. Until then, goodbye my friends. Hopefully I'll land a nice job with NASA and have a 5DmkII in a couple months time?

Wow, that really sucks. I hate thieves.

Hopefully you get back into the hobby again man.

Maybe buy an old x0D body off eBay just so you can keep shooting.

bummer man, that does suck. They proabably got the CF card with sexy outfit images too...:(

Do you own a home? Or rent? Most home-owner's or Renter's insurance will cover stolen equipment. Call them to find out first!

Noooo Titusville that's terrib...seems like a lot of people are getting their stuff stolen lately...

My car insurance paid for the 3 DVD's that were stolen out of my rental car in Hawaii (after paying the deductible on all the damage to the car) . Seriously, look into your car insurance, a lot of times they will cover theft of your stuff from your car.

Yeah, you can claim loss for those, just have the receipt or owner's manual or the product serial number. May not get the full price but somethin'
Oh, but first you should have reported the theft to the police and get a police report.

My condolences TS. That blows. Even if your insurance helps out (and it may well), there's still the inconvenience and the sense of being violated by amoral human jackals.

Hopefully your car wasn't damaged during the incident. My first car was broken into 4 separate times, twice on the east coast, twice on the west, and the stereo system stolen. I always locked the car, so the thieves would smash a window and usually took a crowbar to the dashboard to extract the head unit.

Wow! Ironically two other friends had their gear stolen this week. So sorry to hear about that Titus. :(

wow TS I am sorry man that really blows:0(

Well on a good note you can purchase a NIKON D50 for around $200-$300!!
Become a nikon shooter now!

Sorry to hear that TS. We'll look forward to when you're able to jump back in.
Of course, we'll be happy to still have you being active here giving pointers to the rest of us, if you can stand to do it.

Yeah man loosing the CF card was harder than the camera/lens! ;)
I haven't talked to the insurance agency yet. I'll try that tomorrow. I have been hitting the local pawn shops hoping for a lucky break. I was saving for a 500mm f/4 IS but I guess it will go to a 5D and another 24-70. Hopefully State Farm will be good to me?

Check Craigs list too. I had my 15' kayak ripped off and found it on CL and got it back with the help of Orange County Sheriffs.
And bummer man...if you need to borrow a hammer to break some bones when ya find the scum bags holler..I have a bunch!

That's terrible. I would be furious.

My only brush with car thieves was one morning I found a tool kit in my car and the plastic around my stereo broken. So the kids not only failed to steal my 10 year old stereo, but I got all their stuff too.

I went out one morning and someone had taken 3 of the 4 wheels off my truck. PLUS, they hadn't put the jack under the frame, so I got a bunch of body damage from it, too.

Then when I got the Mini, some guy broke the back window with a rock (waking up the neighborhood) and was still trying to get it started when the cops got there. He refused to get out of the car, so the cops had to break the front window, too, so they could pull him out. He was out on bail from beating up his girlfriend. What a winner. When they search him, all he had was a $20 ipod cable of mine in his pocket.

But, I'm not trying to tank away from your experience, Titusville. Just shared misery.... :) I hope the insurance takes care of you.
