I got a new frogspawn today, and have it just placed in my tank, but not sure if i need to mount it to something, or just place it in there, and let gravity take over.

usually you should place the branch in between some rocks to make sure it's stable. Often if you just place them there, a snail or hermit may come along and just push it off causing the coral possible damage if it falls off. There is no need to "glue" it to anything or attach it, just try to place it between something or in a hole to keep it stable.
