YOU have been ignored!
Well Cindy and I did our part to stimulate the economy today. Actually my old point and shoot crapped out on me last week. So I went to Best Buy and got a Nikon D60 today. I had to take a few pictures with it. :)

Here's a few pictures of my frags and a couple small colonies that I have in my frag tank right now.

Superman Montipora colony. It has great color

The pictures aren't the best. Man its gonna take me forever to figure out how to use this thing. Anybody have one and know how to take decent pictures like to show me a few things?

Thanks,
Chris

Chris, all your colors look really great:thumbsup: Where did you get that superman from? Looks really nice.

The pics are really nice too, nice and sharp. I would just try and get some of the blue out, it will bring out the colors of the corals more. Have you tried the custom white balance yet? What lighting are you using?

You frag tank looks fantasic! Thanks for sharing.

Great pics, Chris. Your green table is really lookin' good. Emmit has a good idea about the WB. Auto-WB might do a better job for you. Failing that, you'll just have to experiment. Your pics are pretty large. I've found that if I resize them to 600pixels wide they always fit. That D60 is a great camera. You'll definitely grow to love it. Great choice.

Chirs, corals look great! I knew you could not stay out of it long:D
Are those pictures taken with the actinic lights only?

nice shots Chris,as Tom already stated the auto WB will help alot getting more true color pictures.i like that green table, well i like anything that tables :D

I got the Superman from DrDBC (I think that's his handle on RC) about a year or so ago. Yeah it has great color. Yeah I gotta play with this camera some more and figure out the white balance. I'm running a 400W SE XM 20K bulb with a PFO HQI ballast about 20" or so above the tank. My 250W ballast crapped out on me and I had the 400 laying around and thought I'd try it. So far so good. I wanna try the Radium bulb one of these days.

The frag tank is coming along nicely. I figured I'd keep my corals in here for a while while I re-build my display. By the time I put them back in my display I'm hoping I have some decent sized corals and this way I can arrange them nicely instead of just tossing them in wherever.

Havent seen you around for a while. Ya doin ok?

Chris

OK I adjusted the white balance..

The WHO and the What???? Yeah I've got a lot of reading and practice. Its kinda fun. I wanna get a nice macro lense so I can take some nice close ups. I guess i should practice for a while with what I got.

Later!
Chris

Its always nice to see true representation of corals without all of the blue lighting. Looks like you have a nice little collection going there.

Thanks! I tore down my display tank because things were not going as well as I would like. I transferred several pieces that were salvagable and added a few frags here and there.

I'm going to let them grow out in the frag tank and then transfer them to the display when its ready. Wont be for a while though.
