Got my first set of Acros from Dr Mac. They came in great shape btw.

Please help me if I you see any potential problems with my set up.

38 G cube.

Aqualight Pro Fixture (1) 150 W mh (15k)
W/ (2) 65 WATT pc.

Temp 79 -81 degrees
PH 8 -8.2
Alk: 7
Cal: 415
Nitate: Undetctable
PO4: Undetectable

Filtration: Remora Pro HOB skimmer with MJ1200
Fluval 303 canister w/ Kent Carbon and Rowaphos

Flow: Canister and Skimmer plus 2 Seio 620 powerheads and one MJ1200.

I use C-Balance for Alkalinity and Calcium supplementation.

I placed the Acros at the top of the water column about 2" below water surface in the center directly under the MH. The fixture sets about 6" from water surface.

My biggest concern is having enough light. Anyone do well with a MH this small.

You will be ok if they are right under the light. If that's an XM 15K you might want to look into getting something with higher PAR down the road. That bulb has pretty low PAR.

Things look just fine to me :). I agree that a higher par bulb for that MH down the road is a good idea though. Look into some of the 10K options, they usually have perty good par which means you will get far better growth.

Good luck,
Whiskey

Thanks for the reccomendation on the higher PAR bulb. I didn't realize bulb color and output were related.

My tank is 18 mos. old.

They aren't completely dependent on each other, but color does factor in PAR, as does the reflector and ballast type. Is that Aqualight fixture a magnetic ballast or electronic? What type of reflector?
