Great seahorse

I'm using my boyfriends account to show off my new seahorse. She's my first one. I am pretty sure she is a female great seahorse but not positive. I'm hoping maybe someone could identify her or maybe tell me a little bit about this type of seahorse. Do these creatures do better to have another seahorse (whether male or female) around? Thanks guys!

She is beautiful! It is probably a she, but at that size its hard to tell.

Do keep a close eye on her, H. kelloggi don't have a great track record. Many people recommend quarantining for a minimum of 6 weeks and deworming them.

My guess would be a reidi and like FishGrrl, it's hard to tell the gender at this age.
Because the anal fin appears to be out from the tail a little ways, it would lead me to believe that it will be a male, but I've been wrong before on my own horses.
They can be kept alone put they prefer the company of other seahorses. Dan Underwood has posted that sometimes placing a mirror against the glass helps.
Be sure to keep the temperature at 68° to 74° to minimize bacterial interference.
If you put more seahorses in, be sure to put in seahorses from the same breeding source to lessen the chance of infestation by parasites that it hasn't grown up with.
Just remember, this is just a start, so get planning the future seahorse tanks as this is a very addicting hobby.
