PM or email me your order by Saturday night, and I'll place it for you. Pickup will be at my house (15044) or I could meet you at Aquaworld, Elmers, or Seahorse (of course I couldn't do that all in one day, so it would probably be easiest to pick up here.)

Nate

PM me, post in this thread, or email (n.b.g@hotmail.com) I can easily hold your order (fish included) in one of my tanks for a day or two if you can't do Tuesday.

Nate you have my order - has anybody actually ordered and received good specimens from this guy? Let me know - with a group buy and spreading out the shipping I am thinking about adding more.

Hmmm...interesting read!! I will have to think about this. Hard to say how much is a bad customer and how much is bad service/specimens or just packaging, but she ( Christine) did not handle the complaints well, and the e-bay negatives ( while very few) were all about failure to make a shipment/complaint "right". I wont be adding anything at this time and may cut back, have we determined if we can do pickup at Fed Ex delivery place or not? If we can, it would make me more confident. That way there is no doubt that the package was never left out in the cold.

Matt...you've ordered from her before, how was your experience? I'm not going to go crazy, but I'm willing to give her a try for $50. Most of her people who left feedback seem to be very pleased with how she handled everything. Still, I do want to hear from Matt about his previous experience.

As for the shipping date, Tuesday seems unlikely this week, since according to their website, they need the order by Wednesday to send it on a Monday. What day should we shoot for, or are not enough people interested now?

well - goggled "reefs2go" - and found several threads/comments a on other reefing websites that were positive. So, who knows..... The website has a phone number - I may call.

Just called the phone number on the reefs2go website = answering machine. They answered a "A piece of the reef" so I guess they are one company with two names. Well at Friday 7:30 pm - that is understandable. I left a message about some concerns due to recent Reef Central threads/comments and mentioned getting a group buy here in Pittsburgh and I would like to talk to someone in person about them. We will see....

seems if they make sure they send with adequate heat packs, that would be a good place to start, since all the mistakes they have made seem to center around things being too cold. I'm pretty sure the Fedex distribution center is right by you isn't it? If not, it's over in Cranberry, but I know I see their trucks all the time down by the Shop N Save.

My experience

My experience

In my experience from last year, we worked out a purchase amount to receive "free shipping" that in its self saved me $38.00

There were two DOA's which when I called her the same day and left a message, she returned the call within 2 hours if I remember right (same day anyway). She promptly offered a store credit without any proof.......every thing else is still alive and well except a clown that was oxygen deprived and didn't make it a full day....I must add that when I called her back that evening, she answered and apologized and again gave more of a store credit.....with that in mind, fedex never dropped off the package here till 4:30 in the afternoon which I believe is why the 3 fish didn't make it.
Also is why I like to see us be able to pick up from the fedex center......

I'm not afraid to order again, the money I saved with her prices I'm sure I can get something else from other reefers on here, corals..

BTW Nate, love those PALY'S. Thanks

Glad they are looking so good. The greens really really pop under heavy blue spectrum lighting. I've noticed it under the 14k MH vs. 12K MH. As for the order, I'm assuming this Tuesday is a no go at this point because of time constraints...any reason not to go with Thursday? (ordered by monday night?)

Thursday is fine with me. How many /much are we ordering? If it is large enough we could ask for additional discounts.

Hope to talk to her Saturday and try for free shipping and an additional discount if the order is "big enough".

Nate, I'm at work, not to busy......I'll figure out what I'm ging to order and PM you some time thru the nite............

Thanks again,

I think you are always taking a risk placing a livestock order in the dead of winter. Don't those heat packs only last 8-10 hours?

They do have ones that last 30 some hours but, they need oxygen to warm and in a sealed cooler I wonder if it would run out of O2 and stop warming?

I got some zoas this winter and the guy taped the heat pack to the top, sealed it under tape completely...The water was real cold....I was lucky everything made it.

Right now we're looking at mid-high 40's on Weds and low 40's with falling temps on Thurs. Actually probably the best weather we'll get until March, but I agree with Ray there is always the risk. However, I placed a large online order two winters ago with nyaquatic and of 15 fish I ordered, none died, including a very nice 4-5" regal Angelfish and a 12" eel. The weather wasn't warm at all, but whatever he did to get them to me the bags were still a reasonable temperature (75 degrees if I remember correctly.) The fact is that retail stores get large orders all the time during the winter, and from talking to Heather at the Seahorse, if they shipper is responsible and makes sure they do it right, casualties are no lower/higher than you'd expect during perfect weather. It all depends on how responsible the shipper is.

Update--I'm still looking at placing the order on Monday, for all who are interested. I know for sure that Acer and The2ofus are interested, and Jonreefer, miatawnt2b, and starphiretank were interested, but I want to be sure of everyone before I place the order. The website of the place is reefs 2 go (no spaces) dot com. They have some better prices on there, presumeably because ebay and paypal wouldn't necessarily take their cut I guess. Anyway, I want to order Monday night, to get them Thursday (Matt, I have that all figured out right, correct?) Shipping will be $30 divided by the number of people who order + $1 for each unique item. If 4 people get hermits, it'll be .25 for that item for each one. Right now I know of 4 people for sure ordering (myself, Matt, Acer, and my mom) The more, the less shipping will be.

Nate

I guess to explain the added dollar is that when you order say 5 sets of blue leg hermits at say 50 in three sets, 75 in one and 100 in the other, all five will be bagged separately. This saves having to acclimate all of them just to re-bag them for each individual.

If that didn't make sense, let me know, I'm at work ALL night.

Yes Nate,
I'm available every morning next week to help out, in fact if some one is from Butler, when I leave your house I'll head north on route 8, so if I can help with anyones order for pick up, I'll save them a trip.

Just saw this on their site, looks like 2 day shipping on inverts,

I live somewhere really cold/hot, will my shipment be alright?
We accommodate the animals for shipping according to what part of the country they are going to. Fish arrive next day after being shipped and inverts 2 days. Also, remember the arrive alive guarantee. If something happens to the animal, immediately email us a picture of it to issues@piece-of-the-reef.com, and we will come to a resolve on the problem.
