Group Buy On ORA Clownfish

so can someone confirm if the black clowns get blacker with age?

Chester the black ocellaris clowns get blacker as they mature. Eventually even the mouth will be black also. It might take it a year before it is entirely black. It will start with the dark brown color turning black until only the mouth is a bit yellow/brown. Mine is almost a year old and it is only missing the mouth to turn black.

I am so excited to have my little fishy. I hope he and my existing perc get along well.

My perc is hosting in a chalice right now. I hope she lets the new guy stay in there with her. Although it's a hard coral and looks really uncomfortable.

Any update on this?

Ron, did the fish arrive today as you expected?

Are we still on schedule?

Can I go to lunch or are you still showing up at 12:00 ?

Thanks
Josh

Unfortunately mine has some white spots on his body that have shown up now in QT, and a white bump on his nose.

I will treat him and he should pull through. He is active. I can't get him to eat though. But it is only the first night. I'm glad I decided to quarantine him. He is a neat looking fish.

Josh

Josh sorry to hear about that. Let me know if he doesn't make it, or if you want me to exchange it for you. I can give you a healthier one and I'll treat the little guy, I bought two for myself. None of the other ones have any spots.

Well it's 220 miles and 12 hours later and I finally finished delivering all the fishes. Guys I have sent you all pm's regarding the health of your clownfish. So far two of them have white spots, Josh's and Jon's, he held them up to the light and one had a white spot on it's band. Please pm me if you have any problems. I'm barely acclimating my clownfish, tested their water and only had .25 ammonia in their bags after being there for almost 36 hours after being sent out. Probably might be higher because I am using a cheap 30 sec water dip test.

No Ron, it's totally fine. I'm in a quarantine process now anyway. I'm going to run my tank fallow for 8 weeks because I have disease and parasites in it. This actually simplifies things. Now I don't have to keep two quarantine tanks, I can throw this guy in with the rest of the sick fish. and break down a tank. I set up a separate tank just for him since I didn't want him comingling with my sick fish in QT.

This will just be another fish to add to the treatment group. He is active and seems happy. He is trying to eat although he spits out mysis right now. I hope to get him to like it. He is a gorgeous fish.

It's too bad ORA clowns can have ich. I was hoping they had clean clowns.

Josh

hey ron is it possoible to find out if they were using copper in their water? i noticed the water in the bags were blue-er than normal, especially from one bag to another. But if they are that one clown stilll had ich. I dont have a QT tank either....yikes....im going to try to set up a 5 gallon bucket i'll eep you up dated. Thanks for dropping them off tho i really appreciate it

I tested the water and there was no trace of copper. I don't blame ORA for the clowns getting ich. I think I am the guilty one. Offering to deliver kept them in their bags longer than they should've been and it caused them to stress out. The package arrived warm, and each of the black ocellaris were individually bagged. My clownfish were in their bags for 36 hours before acclimating them, I drip acclimated them from 1230am til about 830 this morning, all of them are doing great and looking at the surface to be feed.

So far it's only the black ocellaris that came down with it. It's a matter of Scott letting me know how his are doing, but we won't find out until later in the week because they are at his tank at work. His were different, one true perc and 2 naked clownfish.

There is someone from ORA's hatchery with a reef central account. I will pm him to find out why the water was so blue.

the blue is from usually rid ick or some other type of methlyne blue... helps calm down the fish as well as add oxygen to the water. they do the same things with betta's when they come into fish stores, ever wonder why their water was soo blue?

haha no it's not full proof for them not to have ick... it's the fish stressing out... the meth blue helps but it's not full proof.

Jon, the person I spoke to said they never use copper in their water. He isn't in the shipping department, but thinks they use Jungle's tank buddy. Sometimes it gets diluted more depending on how much water is in the bag. The blue is probably from methaline blue. Please document your fish's health so hopefully ORA can do something about it on monday. Is it breathing heavily? Gasping at the surface? Is it eating? Have you seen it scratch itself on anything? From the pictures I was told it doesn't look like ich, but gas bubbles under the slim coat.
