Not sure how many Mars people actually got this ozone setup besides me, but here's my feedback after about 2 weeks of use..
first off, the setup was a breeze.. it came with everything except for a tee to connect the O3 outlet to the venturi inlet.. i was lazy to swing by Lowes, so i took a 2" piece of RO tubing and cut a 1/4" hole in the middle.. then i connected the O3 outlet and venturi inlet to it, DIY tee
my tank's initial reading before the O3 generator was between 224 - 285.. i started by runing the generator on the controller (set at 350) at 1.5 hour intervals; basically the generator got power every other 1.5 hours regardless if the reading was below 350 or not..
within a couple of days, i noticed CLEARER water.. to test it even further, i skipped the normal weekly water change! and the algae that builds up on the glass slowed down dramatically.. i haven't cleaned the glass for 3 weeks.. in the past, i would have to clean the glass pretty much every week.. i've ALSO increased my feedings and phyto feast dosing.
not sure if this is good or bad, but the controller probe needs to be cleaned a least once per week (with vinegar).. otherwise the readings are false in the upwards direction.. this cuts the generator off so there's no chance of OD'ing the tank.
the skimmate (from a ER8-2) is totally different now.. it's a lot more slimy now.. before it was thick and dry like wasabi, now it's more like toothpaste.
HTH anyone who's still deliberating ozone.. i for one am hooked on O3
edit: Thank you Marc!
