Group Buy - Ozone Setup

Hey Marc,

I would be interested in the other setup if it is still available. I'm in Elk Grove so can pick up anytime.

Thanks.

Bill

I'd suggest you guys use a simple timer with the generator.. mine has always been set to provide power every other 1.5 hours since day one.. at the beginning the generator would run for almost the entire 1.5 hours.. but lately, the ORP has been steady between 350-367 and the generator occasionally comes on.. the timer helps to stagger out the amount of O3 being injected..

btw.. the controller drop range is about 20 mv; i.e. mine cuts off at 367 and turns back on at 349..

Marc.. Did you ever get yours setup and running?

Huy-

No, we just returned from Montana yesterday. I'll probably get it setup this week sometime. I also have the new Seaswirls to add.

Hey Minh,

I wasn't trying to steal your setup. :p I thought Marc had 2 extra and I asked for the last one after yours.

Oh well, no big deal.

Marc, hooked up ozone today, pretty simple, almost logical, took the orp meter about a day to stabilize at 225, the enaly raised redox about 20/hour until it cut off around 380 on meter. I tried stirring up the sand bed to see if that would eat up some of the ozone, and I think it did. bruce in ft. lauderdale, the other end of the ocean.

Bruce, good to hear.

Don't forget to rinse the ORP probe in white vinegar t least weekly.

Let me know after a while if you see the benefits.

Good idea on stirring the sand bed and letting the O3 eat it up! i may have to experience and blow everything around in the sump after i clean the probe..

generally i've noticed that the readings would be around 360-370 prior to the vinegar dip, would actually drop to 320-330 afterwards.

I can't wait till I get it from Marc and hook it up. How did you guys feed your skimmer? I think I might need to go buy a T and feed it on one end.

I will try to find the info.. I read it sometime ago and someone said it's not safe..
Let me see if I can find it..

Yeah - I guess for every person that I find who claims the ASM is reef safe, there will be another person that claims it's not. I guess that's the nature of this hobby.

Here's my DIY tee.. if you can call it that :)

sorry for the crappy pic.. i used my cell to take the pic.. O3 comes in from the top tube and skimmer venturi inlet is the bottom tube..

Huy - sorry, I can't do that with my skimmer. It's simply to simple. I have to make the project as complex as possible. For some reason - I think I might need a table saw to cut some of the tubing. I hate it when i have to buy new tools for these projects. :D

BTW - what is that thing in the background, Is it a temperature monitor system? I am thinking about getting one to control both my heaters and fans. I guess I will need a impact drill to mount one of those. :D Dang - this hobby is expensive with all the tools.
