what are you planning for a new tank, in terms of size?

im going to keepp this tank another year then im moving to florida so i think i will set up a new tank there my ultimate would be an AGE 72x30x24 rimless. :) a man can dream cant he

more realistically i will go with a 120BB sps tank and keep this tank with some clowns and anemones and a nice t5 light.

sure thing bro, anytime.

How are weekends for you? I have in-laws that live in Wooster. You would give me a good excuse to leave the next gathering. :bum:

haha! I never noticed... but you have the same light stand as me, those are the new "designer" light stands. Only special people have them lol.

Very nice tank! Looks bigger than a 50 till you posted that last pic

usually here on the weekends but i will be back and fourth this summer so give me a call to make sure.

Your tank is looking really nice! Glad to see you are having better luck with the haddonis! Getting a good healthy specimen to start with seems to be the biggest hurdle.

Hi GSMguy!

Great tank. Love the colours and aquascaping! Congrats.

I'm getting a similar tank and was just wondering if you think this will be ok?

Tank - 36x18x18
Sump - 18x12x12
Skimmer - Deltec AP600 to be gravity fed
Flow - 2 Seio1500s, 2 Seio 820s (92x turnover)
Lighting - 1 Single Ended 400W 14k with 2 t5 Actinics

I already have all the equipment above except the tank, stand and sump.

The tank will be barebottom and predominantly SPS. I see you are using sand. How much did you use, and do you run a phosphate reactor? I'm thinking by seeing your pics that I may go with sand, so I can get a leopard wrasse.

Also, what and how many fish do you have in there?
What are your water parameters?

Sorry for the many questions but your tank has inspired me!

Cheers!

your tank sounds much better planned than mine.

if was going to change your setup at all i would say that with a 400w halide you cant have a tank with a center brace, so get the oceanic 58g reef ready that has no center brace also the oceanic tech tank 70 is a very nice tank.

I hate my sand so unless your dead set on Sand dwelling anemones i say stay BB. You already have that awsome skimmer to take care of the extra skimming needed.

i run sumpless so no reactors of any kind i ocasionally run Carbon in a canister filter besides that just the Deltec MCE 300 that i got recently to replace my remora.

Salinity 1.26
ammonia 0
nitrate 0
phosphate 0
ph beetween 8.2 and 8.3
Ca 420
alk 4.5
mg 1250

Thanks! Great water paremeters, esp that you have sand. I have a small apartment, so I'm getting a custom made 36x18x18, with no bracing. The glass will be 15mm thick.

I think I'll stay with BB.

So I guess you dose? How often do you dose magnesium, calcium and alk?

Cheers,

i think my ph stays stabil because of my large amount of flow you will have more than i do :)

custom WO bracing sounds amazing have you seen the AGE aquariums with pvc bottoms ?

Nope, haven't seen AGE aquariums. I'm thinking of dosing too, not sure if it's worth inversting in a calcium reactor for this size tank. Perhaps a kalk reactor in future for me.

Again, your tank got me sold on 36x18x18! Very inspiring.

All the best.

well with all the debate around here i have one thing to say I WAS RIGHT

my captive bred clowns are now hosting the mint green anemone. wooot

Absolutely Beautiful, The aquascaping is perfect. I can never be happy with how i set mine up. I wouldn't change a thing, btw.

It seems to be coming along nicely. Of course the anemones steal the show ;).
indeed and here is something i have been waiting for for a month and a half now

whats interesting to me is the anemone looked very healthy yesterday and my male clown "Jim Lahey" moved in.
