I was actually joking about guessing the color because this gig is devoid of any color, not even a hint of color. I usually can see small spots of color, but this one is completely bleached, though it still has the yellow mouth, as well as the trademark blue foot and very small purple verrucae.
Typically weeks, sometimes as long as a couple of months. My purple one wasn't happy in my DT so I moved it into one of the flats. It's semi-bleached so I'm nursing it back to health as well.
If I don't see the bleached gig begin to color up, I plan to feed it some of the purple gig's tentacles in hopes of repopulating the zoox.
The picture look like it have some green to it on my monitor. Because you said it is completely devoid of any color, I guess it is just photo artifact (or my monitor). I think he will be great once you nurse him back to health. Keep us post.
Best of luck.
At least I hope so. My track record with these small gigs has been dismal lately, but this one seems promising... tight mouth, no deflation, and even ate a piece of food that floated by.
OOOOOOOOOO, the coveted unicorn! Maybe if he feeds some red haddoni tents, he can try getting a head start! Perfect candidate!
I kid, I kid... Jokes aside, my guess, it can take over a year for something like that, to come into it's "full glory". Just my guess. That's a long way to come from. Not that it's "hard", but it has a long way to go. It may actually be easier to keep/rehab that guy, just longer to recover. I would be surprised if it regained all it's color and tent length with-in 6 months. IMO, that would be a fast recovery. On my screen, my guess is also green, but who knows... one of my blues seems to be turning teal (dark green/light blue), 2 years later.
I forgot to mention that it's only about 3", which is why I'm guessing weeks instead of months, but that said I'm planning on trying to rush the process. I have it settling in my anemone system (6 tanks totalling 150 gallons or so), so right now it's only under a single stunner strip. If it continues to do well, my plan is to move it into a larger 24" x 24" x 12" tall flat which is lit by a Kessil A350.
