nicei am happy for you and happy to know everything is running smooth.
just hold 1.009 for 4-6 weeks then start raising it up to match dt.
Good luck and safe reefing.
guys i just wanna add on to the conversation. having filters in sump or DT is no guarantee for instant cycle but in fact just a seeding process. its similar to setting up a tank with dry rock and adding a few pieces of live rock to it.
of course the longer the filters sit in the DT chances are more bacteria will colonize it and then again there are many factors involved with that too. bacteria can only live in numbers against the ammonia being produce. its equal proportion. if ur DT produced just enough ammonia for ur main bacteria to live off then chances are ur filters for qt will never colonize thus not giving u instant cycle. so there are many factors at play.
what i recommend is longer the filter stay in ur Dt chances are greater but still after transfer add food to QT and check for ammonia. also dont put a huge load on ur young filters they wont be able to handle it. go slow add 1 fish a week.
Alright sounds good thanks again for all you do is a huge and helpful information! One last ? Can I take the shrimp out soon cause it stinks! Lol
Hi Bnumair,
i have a two part question.
I know it was mentioned somewhere but I can't find it.
How do you quarentine Angels?Don't handle copper well?
Im thinking about my next canidates and a Lamarck Angel is on my list.
Also, if Tangs are prone to ich would it be bad idea to treat first with Cupramine then with prazipro?
Thank you for all your effort responding to all questions.
My QT is finally working out.

Appreciate the summary. Follow-up question regarding adding fish to the QT. If you do the one fish per week to mitigate the load, do you Prazipro for that entire time and then once you add your final one, go two weeks from that point and then start Cupramine, if needed, at that point?
