So would u say if i add this tonight should it be ok to add a fish to my QT on thursday if everything reads zero tomorrow?
So my quarantine tank is now reading ammonia < 0.25 and nitrite 11ppb. My frag tank that i am cycling shows <0.25 and nitrite 200ppb. I have no plans on putting anything in it now and I realize my frag tank is not ready. My question is when should I start ghost feeding, and should I do a water change prior to placing any fish or coral in the above? Thanks
bnumair, so you dont treat fish proactively with cupramine right? only if they exhibit symptoms? Plan on getting 2 clowns (ocellaris or percs) wasnt sure if i should only do a proactive prazipro treatment or just go ahead and do both.
Correct, i treat all fish with prazipro then observe.
I do proactively treat all tangs with hypo or copper as they are known to be ich magnets.
copper is more effective than hypo, but some fish are highly sensitive to copper. certain wrasses and angels for instance. so if you weren't planning to do tank transfer method, then hypo would be the next-best alternative to proactively treat for Ich.
I put some white PVC pipe in yesterday, I did wash it before I put it in but it seems to have clouded my water up some, guessing that's normal?
It's best not to place ornaments in qt. Few reasons being most ornaments are made for freshwater tanks and can leech stuff in saltwater overtime. Also ornaments can absorb medicine making dosing and keeping right strength a nightmare.
So I advise against it or at least pull them out if medicine is used and also make sure ornaments are made for saltwater application.
Ok so i added the recomended dose of the api quick start. Added ceramic media. Removed the old sponges since i read up that they hold nitrites. And still nothing! Nitrites still showing off the roof. What should i do? A big water change?
