H. Crispa split!

My h. Crispa anemone that I've had for about 10 months has split. So exciting! Maybe now one of my clownfish will host one of them.

I've never heard of H. crispa splitting, but I'd be interested to see what some of the anemone experts here have to say. If it is crispa, that would very exciting.

In either case, congratulations! My rainbow BTA just split and I've been happy about it all day. :)

It is definitely h. Crispa. It used to be completely bleached with the purple tips, but over the past few months it has gotten darker. I'm assuming it has built up a healthy supply of zoozanthellae. My anemone had been anchored in a different spot for the past 9 months, but last week moved to this new location. Maybe that was an indicator that it was about to split. I will try to get a better picture of the anemones, but they are anchored in a bunch of rocks so it will be difficult. I attached a photo of the anemone when I first got it for all the skeptics :)

It's a H. crispa. That picture just show the anemone folded oral plate. Show us a better picture.
I bet you 20 dollars that it is not splitting.

Never heard of H. crispa splitting and have been under the impression that species only reproduces sexually. In that last pic it looks unhappy--bleached and unattached.

In the original pic it just looks like a H. crispa folded over on itself. My guess is that tomorrow it will be back to normal.

More photos are needed as far as the split goes. I am hoping the OP has observed a little more clearly what has happened than what we can see in the photo. It would be very interesting indeed if it split - it would be the first time I had ever seen one.

And yes, as others have said that IS a H. crispa.
