H. Magnifica Question.

I have had my H.Mag for a month now and when I first got her she appeared to be so stressed that it looked like she was attempting to split. Her mouth shifted from center to one side of her body and a crease that was white appeared on the outside of her base. Here is a pic.

This is the best pic I can get. The crease is right under the clowns tail. But this was taken yesterday so it has been a month. Would it take this long to split. And she is also deflating around 2 hours before lights out every night then reinflates after lights are off. I know that is not a good sign but she has good color and has never moved. I have to stay positive.
My tank:
120g display 250 total volume
LED Lighting

Ph 8.1
alk10.2
calcium 430
mag 1330
phos 0
nitrates 0
ammonia 0

Any advise or hepful experiances
thank you

I'm sure I read somewhere Magnifica's can take over a month to split. Certainly looks like it is.

Bull,

I bought my friends ritteri because his split 3 times. He sold one to Jason at Greenwich Aquaria and one to me. He kept his and all are very healthy. Well just a few days ago my other Ritteri which is in my frag tak was all streched out, looking painful for maybe 3 weeks. Well now there are two in the frag tank. So I have 3 ritteri nems now. Gonna have to have a sale soon

Ok, so it is possible that she is splitting. Is there anything I can do to make her more comfortable or atleast give her a better chance at survival? Could the deflating be part of the splitting process?

It sounds, to me, like you have an anemone that is healing from a split. Not an anemone that is about to split.

If the anemone is deflating about the same time every night, before lights out, you are probably running the lights to long, they are to strong, or a little of both. I would reduce the amount of time the lights are on. If you are running the lights for 12 hours and the anemone deflates after 10 hours, I'd shut them off at 9.5 hours.

Good luck. I hope it starts doing better for you.

Thank you for the advise. I cut the lights back a couple hours today. Hopefully things will start to look better.
