Has anybody seen/heard of modifying a 150-2001 with and additional pump?

I have a 150-2001 in my newly established 210. My stand is short(23in) so I went with a 150-2001 as a short term fix until my stocking level increases.

My available sump footprint is about 13x15.

Thanks,

Scott

I'm sure anything is possilbe. However, as H&S is not as widely known in the U.S. as Euro reef or even Deltec, there are far fewer people who have them and have experience modifiying them. I've asked the U.S. distributor (finsreef.com) if it was possible to modify the aquabee powered skimmers to run with eheim pumps. His response was that the eheim would overpower the reaction chamber and send bubbles shooting out the riser neck and overflow the collection cup. I suspect having two aquabees on a 150-2001 would have the same problems as 2 aquabees perform roughly the same as one eheim.

I regret to inform you that I am temporarily leaving the H&S club. I am in the middle of a move and will be in a rental house for up to 2 years. It's small and I won't be able to have a wetroom so I'm downsizing skimmers.

My new home will begin construction but who knows how long that will take. At which point I will be calling Brian (US Distributor) to have a larger custom H&S skimmer made. I absolutely love the brand and the support, but it just doesn't fit into the plans right now. So if you know anyone who wants a monster skimmer for a good deal, LMK.

So is the 340 coming down?:(

NO WAY!!! I'm moving the 340 to the rental home, but I'm getting rid of my bigger fish. This thing is rated for 1,000 gallons and I have no doubt it can handle it. It's just that I bought this monster fully expecting to have a "wet room" and I can not do that in the rental. It's too large for the room that it's going in, and my wife doesn't agree with me that it makes a great coffee table.

I will post on the Large Tank Forum my progress. I'm doing a Reef Ceramic back wall and a few other cool changes to the 340 while it's dry.

Sorry to hear about your downsizing, but at least it is only temporary.

BTW, I am sending you a PM.

Oops... I forgot to post pics of my skimmer. Here is a pic of the collection cup. I had not cleaned it for maybe two weeks.

I just order a A150-F2001 skimmer tonight and am so excited to get it... How do most people plumb their skimmer? Does most your setups look like Teds? Also how many of you use gravity feed? Thanks

Well I cleaned out the full skimmer cup possibly for the last time today. I am getting a Bubble King 300 and I really have to say I do not believe it will keep up with this H&S. I have PM'd with NAGA and others who think the BK300 will beat the A300 - but I have my doubts.

It took me a little bit of time to get this thing dialed in. It was my fault, not the skimmer's fault, finally when I listened to Brian, it became an absolute machine. It pulled out 1.5 gallons of gunk in 36 hours. Dry, stanky, smelly gunk. I took some pictures but I don't know where the card reader is so I'll have to wait to post them.

I'm very bummed to see this thing go. Unless the BK is absolutely rock solid like this thing was, when I get to the new house I'll be ordering another H&S.

Fliger,

You have had bubble king envy for a long as I remember. And it only cost you a new house, a new tank and whatever the bk300 costs. Not bad really.

I am very close to pulling the trigger on an A-200-2xF2001. I'll let you guys know when I can officially say that I am joining the club.

Let's keep this thread running.:)

As for a HOB model, H&S Germany is in the process of engineering one, but it will take a little while before the R&D is done. But one is on the way.

Does anyone run their air through a filter to clean it of particulate matter, etc?

How do you inject ozone into these skimmers? Simply attach the ozone output to one of the air lines?

Thanks!
