H&S Skimmer Club

When the pump speeds up, the water flow also increases, when this happens, it flows more water over the intake venturi. It is just the happy medium where the pump runs. I will try to get some pictures of the unit adjusted wide open compared to pinched down with the venturi. I may take a couple of days get my camera back from loan.

Here is my unit the A300-3x1260
and I love it.

lol I have to many windows open and I`m to quick with the enter button.
I have some closeups if you want ;)

Where did you get your H&S Calcium Reactor??

Do you like?? How well does it function?? I see it use the large media like the JetStreams. Do you have issues desolving the media??

I am planning on getting a new reactor and the H&S is one of my top choices because Fins and Critters is local.

TIA,
Typhon

Hi Typhon and lunkerbunker,

I dont want to steer this thread away from the skimmer club, but here is your answers.

I got it from Extreme Marine in Toronto,Canada ,
The media seems to be disolving just fine at a 6.9 ph level.Calcium is about 410 which is ok for my tank.

I like this C.R well built and easy access just like all H&S products.
I hear alot of good things about Fins And Critters so that would be a great place to get it from.

The pump is a Aquabee which works great.

Though the foam production is high in my A200-1260X2, I do feel the skimmate much too diluted compare to my old Aqua-C.

There seemed to have no other way to adjust since I already open the valve to maximum.

I am using a 3000 liter/hr feeding pump.

Does anyone know how to get a darker skimmate?

Icliao,
Slow your feed pump to ~2000 to 2500lph max. Also lower the water level. A lower water level will allow for a darker/drier skimmate.

How do I lower the water level?
I already twist the pipe valve to open it to maximum.
I got no manual from my LFS but at least got good price.
Will try to use a 2000 liter pump later today.

If I feed water directly from overflow to the skimmer, the water will be with significant amount of water in it, would this somehow disrupt the performance of my skimmer?

Icliao,
When you lower your feed rate, the water level will go down slightly. Also make sure you do not reduce the output pipe. Also make sure the exit is not under the water in the sump. You can also close the airvalve some until you get the desired water height that you want.

Noted. Thanks.
