Well I have my A110 running on the 70 and it's awesome. These smaller units have to be seen to be appreciated. I think because I've owned a few external skimmers, knowing the basics behind them (trial & error) makes it super easy for me to dial in.

One thing I've noticed that's really interesting - if I keep the water level below the bayonette fitting, the air input is inceased (due to less backpressure) and you get the typical dryer, larger bubbles forming up the neck. If you raise the water level into the neck, the air input decreases yet the bubbles stay extremely fine - and you still get a nice dark green skimmate.

I'm unsure which way I want to run it.

Oh I take back the comment on the Remora. Get the H&S.

I do really prefer external skimmers and would always recommend one. Internals are fine, but its worth the few extra bucks to manipulate the skimmer.

Here is an A110 on the 125 I have at my shop.
Sorry don't have any of the internal 110 Pictures at this moment.

Just saw this. I take it you prefer the darker stuff. Do you have the air pinched back in this picture?

Dear H&S skimmer club friends

I'll buy a needle wheel skimmer recently.
I see many needle wheel skimmer with different company, like H&S,EURO-REEF,ASM,Deltec....etc.(But I still love H&S)
Here I have a question. Does the needle wheel technique have any patent?

Stupid question maybe, but.....I am getting set to bite the bullet and buy a 200x2-F2001. I understand this is an internal model. I am presuming all the talk of manipulating flow-rates concerns external skimmers, correct? Just want to be sure as I am sick and tired of trying to get max performance out of my aquaC.

Flow rate adjustment (and extra plumbing) are things that go with external skimmers. With in sump skimmers, there is still some control over water level but there the water flow through rate is pretty much fixed.

Agreed. That's why some don't like external/recirculating skimmers as they require a little extra tinkering. Congratulations and welcome to the club.

Just placed my order. Way excited for a Thursday arrival of a 200x2-F2001! Now I just need to make my psychiatrist appt. I can't believe I just spent HOW MUCH for a protein skimmer!

Hey did not know there was and H&S Skimmer Club. Here is my Beast, it is a 5 pump model (not sure the exact model #). It will be running my new 1200g system (600g tank). Here is a pic of it sitting next to a 44g rubbermaid trash can.

Quick question for you other H&S Folks.... Does anyone know of a wet neck option for the H&S Skimmers?

Fliger,
IIRC the skimmer was not pinched on the air intake at that time.
Chicken, Love that monster, at this time there is not a wet neck option. Your Model # is A450-5x1260. ~ 18" diam.

:( And I thought my 1260x3 was big. Bad Chicken.

A wetneck feature would be awesome...that's all you hear the deltec ppl talking about even though very very few have it (or even use the washdown feature from what I hear)...

Brian, Thanks for the info. I will hopefully have the monster up and running in about a month. I ran it for about 3 weeks on my 200g tank and it did a good job. It was just a slight overkill to say the least :)

Hey Brian,

I have the 1260x3 model. I'm able to run it with 2 of the pumps going and it produces foam but when I turn on the 3rd it goes nuts and overflows. I have it gravity fed with approximately 1000gph going through it and fed back out to the sump. The drain is about 1.5 feet total length and is slightly angled about 1 inch down. Is that enough? Should I cut the flow back a little?

TIA!

The drain tubing is the stock size - I think it is 2 inches. The output valve is wide open. Do you think I need to have more of a slant on the drain piping?
