Haddoni Carpet

Well, i tried what you suggested, but even before i turned off the mp40's his lower half was fully extended but after i turned them off for an hour, he was pretty much fully extended so maybe there is a tad more flow than he likes. Is it bad for him to be the way he looks like in my previous pics on a daily basis?
 
One of the things I like about this hobby is that there are several ways to achieve a goal. Keeping that in mind, your first target is to make sure the nem adapts and makes the transition to your tank in the very best way. Initially this means that you may have to make some compromises with respect to flow. After reading Shu Tin's comments on Haddon's anemones I know I may be pushing the envelope with respect to flow. I've taken the past year to make adjustments and keep the type of animals that thrive in the environment I am attempting to replicate. I also know that I have to keep my Gigantea and other SPS happy so I found what I believe to be a happy median for my tank. Simply put, if you start slow you can make sure you nem is happy while adjusting to life in a glass box. Once fully acclimated, make the changes that work best for your system. Like you, I am learning as I go and making the necessary adjustments hoping to have success. From what you have shared with us so far, I believe you are off to a good start.:)

Thought I would post some pics for an update on my Green Haddoni. He is doing great and he eats well. Last time i fed him he grabbed the piece of shrimp and ate it in less than 1 minute:

I love the way they look but I still love the Ritteri more.. HAHAHA...

BUT... I REALLY like the way it looks....

And the clowns DO look happy.
 
Thanks worm5406, yes the clowns are very happy. There is something about these Haddonis that is just mesmorizing to me...they just look awesome.

Hey guys,

Like out of nowhere, my haddoni looks to me like he's double in size...just looks really huge today. Seems that he is flapping all over the place this evening, i've set the mp40 next to it to a very low setting and even moved the power head up higher but i dont see much difference. Can you guys tell me by these pics if he's doing ok?

if he keeps growing like this, i may have to make arrangements! lol....i guess i haven't seen him extend like this yet since i got him...
 
Well you guys are right, I could see late last night he was trying to get out of PVC pipe I placed him in and this morning he's pretty much completely out of it. My impression was that they would like to feel secure having their foot buried in that pipe which has at least 4 inches of sand in it. It did seem that he did like being in there up until yesterday and today. Do haddonis like to be suspended in the water or do they like to be spread out on the ground? I'm thinking maybe he is on the move because he has been suspended at an angle in that pipe all this time. Don't really know what to do with him at the moment, there are no spots really in my tank with at least 4 inches of sand he can put himself in.

Got some pics of him right now...lights are still off. Should I just remove the PVC pipe from behind him and let him figure out where to go or put him back in it?



 
Let it settle.

I would leave it there. It will not remember it, but it might move back for the flow or whatever.
 
Haddoni like to really spread out, maybe thats why they are called Carpet anemone LOL:)

But yes mine are spread out flat about 80 to 90% of the time. And maybe the edgeing on the pipe was bothering it.

Well, I've removed the pipe since he ditched it completely. Now it seems that he's been trying to find a good spot to attach himself. I thought he did for a minute against bottom of the rock behind him but now it seems that he is moving again, and also he seems to get irritated when i turn on the mp40 even at the mildest setting. Right now he looks like he's shrinking so i dont know whats going on.

Then 30 mins later after i started to tuck some more sand under him he seems to be shifting now towards the left and shrunk

 
Leave the mp40 on... It will need to get used to where it is moving water to/from.

Otherwise if it get settled... and you turn it on.. it will then have to move again.
 
Move more sand in and wedge a piece of live rock to dam the sand in there. It's looking for deeper sand. It will adjust to flow, but IMO it feels exposed without deeper sand.
