Haddoni Carpet

It seems that he has found a spot for now, i can tell he has attached his foot to the bottom of the glass and up against a piece of rock. Hopefully, he likes it there and there is more sand in this area than the rest of the tank...maybe about 3" or so. I've left the mp40 on all evening so I dont think thats an issue anymore.

All of my haddoni's always back up to rocks in 3-6" of sand. And then never move no matter how much flow. I have 2200 gph in a 45 and my lavender haddoni likes his spot

Remember, these guy's can go from 20" to almost 3" then Back to 20" in no time flat. And I haven't figured out what triggers that. My Green & Blue seem to do it the most. My red and orange hardly ever get very small.

How is your nem doing now? Has he settled into his new spot? That would be cool if he settles in and stays there. I just couldn't get mine to settle in. Even with 4" of sand he just wouldn't stay put. After he got caught in the MP40 the pipe was my last option. Hope yours finds his happy place where you want him.

I agree... Sank right in.

Can we see how he looks from the side?

What substrate is that?

Ahh... I see... I was hoping to see its foot and how it look in the substrate.

How do you like the substrate?

Very nice!!

Thanks for that lower picture... I knew I should have not put plywood all the way under my tank...

He has now moved diagnoly to the bottom right about 6-8 inches toward the corner of the tank where there is more sand.

On the move again! Need advice!

On the move again! Need advice!

Hey guys, well i thought my haddoni had settled but today he is on the move again and I don't know quite what to do. When i got home around 6pm CT today this is how he was:

Then i had to step out for a couple of hours and now this is how I find him...on my glass!!

What can I do? I shut off the mp40 that is on his side and covered it...It seems that he is heading the opposite direction of the tank. Please help.

Hi,
Well I must say that these guys really like deep sand beds and really no direct flow. And then also very little flow after that.

Is it just me or the picture, but is the tank evenly lite. The conor he is in looks darker than the rest of the tank. Mine like pretty bright light and my sand beds run from 4 to 6 inches. I run 2 mp40 mounted on the back wall of a 30 inch wide tank. They are running on the lowest setting possible.

Only 1 of my 7 has ever moved and he was sick. Since his stay in the QT tank and return to the DT, he has not moved. Yes there are always other ways, but this setup has really worked for me.

I don't want to sound off, but I feel these guys really need a certain type of tank setup to THRIVE, not just hang in there. off my soapbox now:)

Either way, if he is moving, He is not happy at all:(

Good luck

Well, i knew I wasn't going to get any sleep last night with him being on the glass like that so I took the opportunity and piled up a really good amount of sand and made a crater hole and then very gently peeled his foot off the glass and placed him in that crater. He was still in there this morning and his foot is firmly attached to the bottom glass but I know that doesn't mean anything because it was attached to the glass before and he still moved. I don't know, maybe he doesn't like the type of sand that I have. The mp40 was directly above him before and I don't think he was being affected by it directly and I try to keep that one at 30% max, so its very little flow. I originally had him in the 6" PVC full of sand and he didn't like that either. My tank is long and narrow, not very wide at all...I believe its about 18" wide. Light is pretty even so I don't think that would be an issue.

Are any of your haddoni's placed directly under your mp40's?

Good morning,

3 of mine are under my MP's, Which puts them about 6 to 8 inches away thought. So no not directly under them ie as in only a inche or two away. My Mps are set on the lowest green light setting. If you feel lighting is not the issue, and water parms are good. Then this really only leaves sandbed depth and flow.

I am no sure on the sand type issue, I have caribsea seaflor grade sand. I love this sand, seem to be just right in grain size. I would not think that anything else like a creature would be bothering him. Not much seems to mess with these guy's

I will say though, that when my nem was sick he did move around. After treating him and putting him back in the DT, he hasn't move since. Knock on wood:) Your's doesn't look sick, but you can never really tell sometimes.

Also, these guys really seem to like to spread out. While mine do touch some rock, I would say that about 75% of their body is lying on the sand bed. Perhaps your nem feels crowded. Just a though and observasion.

If you pm me your email I will send you a pic of my tank.

Good luck.

Ok, here are some pics of him that I took about 2 hours ago. Please let me know how he looks, seems to me he has settled in a lot better than he has previously. Also with regard to far apart he is from my mp40, he is at least 6-8 inches away, maybe more so no he is not "directly" under it.

Here is how much his foot is burried:
