Haddoni Carpet

Good morning,

3 of mine are under my MP's, Which puts them about 6 to 8 inches away thought. So no not directly under them ie as in only a inche or two away. My Mps are set on the lowest green light setting. If you feel lighting is not the issue, and water parms are good. Then this really only leaves sandbed depth and flow.

I am no sure on the sand type issue, I have caribsea seaflor grade sand. I love this sand, seem to be just right in grain size. I would not think that anything else like a creature would be bothering him. Not much seems to mess with these guy's

I will say though, that when my nem was sick he did move around. After treating him and putting him back in the DT, he hasn't move since. Knock on wood:) Your's doesn't look sick, but you can never really tell sometimes.

Also, these guys really seem to like to spread out. While mine do touch some rock, I would say that about 75% of their body is lying on the sand bed. Perhaps your nem feels crowded. Just a though and observasion.

If you pm me your email I will send you a pic of my tank.

Good luck.

Daniel, thank you for the pictures you sent me, that is one beautiful tank you got! Those Haddonis look awesome and very happy. Are they just drapped over LR? What are they spread out over?

Yes they are draped over LR. The LR is arranged in a V shape with the point to the back. Most of the rock is only about 6 to 7 inches tall.

All the LR is just laying on the sand. Most of my nems seem to place themselves at a rock/sand interface.

None have ever stayed away from the rock, picking just a sand field. Glad you liked the pictures.

Mine always put their back to liverock with their foot in the sand enjoying the sun. And the occasional serving of ceviche lol. Kinda sounds good don't it.

So maybe the lack of it not being against some LR is making it not happy? If thats the case, it will most likely move again.

Yes, I do think that they like/need that contact. Thats not to say that the have to have it, but Most wild pictures I have seen, usually have some type of rock around. And just because we can not see the rock, Does not mean there is not a rock under the sand that they are up against. Just my 2 cent worth.

For Me, Big anemones should have the tank be to their liking, and not us trying to make it work for just our view pleasure:) but it sure is nice when it works both ways:)

And remember Reefing rule #1 be patience

Actually now that i think about it, he was up against a small piece or rock after he got out of the PVC i had him in and he moved away from it, so go figure. You're right, patience is definitely needed. This past Monday was the 30 day mark that he's been in my tank.

I like Daniel's comments in post #42. Strategic placement of some rock may help your Haddoni find its happy place sooner than later. Until that time, I would strongly suggest you have your MP40's covered. Before I stumbled upon the PVC trick my nem got caught in my MP40. Fortunately, I was down the hall and happen to walk by the tank in time to save the nem and my tank. When they decide to walk it doesn't take long for them to get into trouble.

I try to keep them covered when i'm not around and I take them off when i get home. Those foam covers really get clogged quick with crap and reduces flow a lot.

Well its not really working out with him. He's moved 3 times again since I last posted and one of those times he was on the mp40 (thank goodness it was covered). He's just not staying put. I thought this last time that he moved I piled up a lot of sand and dug a hole and after he came off the mp40 he landed right in the hole. I pushed the sand under him and he sunk in and attached to the glass pretty quickly and looked good. This morning he's out again. Should i try putting him back in the PVC?

Guys, going out on a limb here but could it possibly be that my haddoni keeps moving because of my small RBTA that is in there also? Can they sense it is in there even though they are on opposite sides?

Btas and haddoni don't get along. And that very well could be it. But I really think penning in some sand and using liverock to keep the nem from kicking the sound around. Mine constantly shift around in the sand. It's kinda like wjlhen I'm standing in one spot for a longtime I notice that I wiggle my toes and bend my knees alot. And IMO the nem looks for pressure on it's column created by the packed sand.

It was perfectly packed with sand and attached to the glass so it must be the rbta. Anyhow, the rbta is gone now so we will see what happens . I gave it to my neighbor.

Humm I am interested in what it does too. I wonder if it was looking for it to eat/sting...

Since the rbta left, my haddoni has begun digging to burie his foot which in all previous times he moved he always headed for the glass so maybe yes he was out hunting for it. I would also notice the rbta before would significantly deflate to almost nothing many times.

It was sensing it in the water column. Not having eyes and constant flow it was prob starting a circle to see if it came across it.

That is a good and positive sign though.

Any updated pics in it's new spot?

I was able to just take this updated pic from my webcam this morning...looks like its settling back in pretty much in the spot it was originally.
