Haddoni quick question.

Quick question. Want to get a Haddoni from the Lfs but my nitrate level is around 15 to 20. Is that too high to keep these? In the process of trying to lower the nitrate level down but in the short term, how will these carpets do in the meanwhile.

Thanks.

I would not recommend getting it just yet. First determine what the source of the nitrates is. If it was temporary, and due to something like a fish dying, then you should be fine. The key with all nems is stability. If you're nitrate levels are bouncing around, then it means that the tank is not stable. Haddoni could get used to a tank with 15-20ppm nitrate, but of course 0 is the best.

Thanks. The high nitrates were not due to any dying fish. Just overstocking. Recently traded in some tangs to lfs so the nitrates are coming down due to a lesser amt of livestock and over feeding.
Recently added a refugium and a bio pellet reactor so slowly but surely, nitrates are coming down to more of an acceptable level considering how high it was when more fish was present.
This Haddoni is pretty sweet, but i don't want to get it and bring it to its demise by introducing it in my tank if that is the case.
