NoBigDeal -- IMO, that Haddoni of your wasn't bleached, just stressed from shipping, and not surprised it only took 3 weeks to settle in. That would not be the normal time from for a truly bleached Haddoni to recover - and I could see it taking a truly bleached Haddoni several months (( I would stay up to 6, but could be longer )) to fully recover.

It wasn't shipped, I bought it at a store so it was in the same exact condition when I first put it in my tank like it was at the store. Sure, it may not have been in the worst case scenario condition (white) but it was pretty pale/brown in color indicating a lack of zooxanthellae algae.

Another thing, I've always wondered if some species take longer than others to recover. I once bought a completely white Sebae (H. Crispa) anemone from a store and after two months it was 5 times as big and a dark brown. Maybe some species recover faster than others?

Oh sorry for the confusion. When you said "shipped," I thought you assumed it was shipped to my house. :hammer:

Considering what hes been through with i think hes in great shape so far...

He gets fed on frozen sea bass, squid and silversides.

With regards to the levels of stress he went through is that one of the heaters went down and caused a phytoplankton outbreak, cleared that up with uv, then the collare butterfly mauled him cos he liked the taste, and my skimmer broke so was without one for 3 weeks while i waited for parts.. Cant imagine all this had been good, so hes doing good so far!!!!

Ill get some pics tomorrow for all to evaluate...

well, taken the plunge and purchased an arcadia series 3 250w halide system. (im sure my wife to be will understand!!!) so this should improve things, and im putting together a phosphate reactor so between the two, it should improve the anemones water.

kaimarkhirst - Todd has lost an otherwise healthy anemone from feeding silversides. Also, just to make sure, all the food you do feed is in small shopped up pieces - size of a pea - right? large foods take lots of energy to digest.

yes ill have 3 t50w halide lights with 2 36w actinics in there. Its basically an arcadia series 3 ive ordered. Itll arrive next week sometime..

The food varies in size. Sometimes its the size of a pea, sometimes its rhe size of a small fish... How would this make a difference to the stickyness and overall colour?

Think of digestion like melting a giant block of cheese. If you leave it as one big lump it takes a lot of time, if you cut it up it is much easier to accomplish. The overall health of an anemone can suffer if it is spending too much energy digesting food. When overall health declines, so too could stickiness and color. I'm not necessarily saying this is definitely happening though. It's just another piece of the puzzle.

i have had my haddoni under pc's for the past year and a half in a 55g tank and he is still very bright green... i dont think it is the light issue also... but just my 2 cents...

After all this conversation of lighting . Which is fine , what are the water temps in the tanks isnt that important.
